Antenna Amplifier

Post by hppyd1and2 » Tue Sep 03, 2024 10:33 pm

Hello everyone! Mew to the forum and first BMW. I have an 09 Z4 35i. The radio comes on and will play cd’s. I have no fm reception. I was told it would be a bad antenna amplifier? I have no idea where it’s at and if that is the problem. I found the two wires coming from the antenna. They also have two wires bugged to them. I could not get the side panel out to follow them. It is a hard top convertible. Space is tight to say the least. Any help would greatly be appreciated!

Thank you,
Dale

I think you’re referring to the diversity unit..

Thank you for the information. I found the two wires going through the side to the antenna. Couldn’t get much further. I did, however, find two wires quick connected to those wires. I have no idea what the previous owner has done. I ordered the part you showed.

Thank you so much! I just put that unit in. It was the problem. I’m not real familiar with navigating a forum. Older and just happy for the experience.

The only concern I had was there was water in that compartment. I’m going to pull the wheels and check the drain tubes.

That’s funny. I was told that there was a rubber piece in front of each rear tire. And that it was for water drainage from the top. Glad I didn’t waste the time looking. Thank you!

the lack of FM reception is often due to a faulty antenna amplifier, which is a common issue on these models. The amplifier is usually located in the rear, near the antenna itself. For your hardtop convertible, it might be tucked behind the side panel or near the rear window. It can be tricky to access, especially with the tight space.
