2.5 exhaust. Can any improvements be made to the sound?

Post by Sludgepump » Sat Jun 22, 2024 6:16 pm

Just want it a bit more burbly. Don't want it to drone.
Might be pressing the go button on a nice red 2.5 litre car quite soon and would appreciate the opinion of
anyone who's done such a thing.

Thanks

I only use super unleaded, if i use standard i lose any burbles, especially cheap Asda fuel.

Although Asdas diesel recently improved, probably no longer comes from Russia!

Absolutely. Bought it new from POTN Ltd in Wellingborough. Ask for Fin and, if you’d be so kind, name drop Andy.

I collected it and took the car and the exhaust a few yards to Motech Performance for fitting.

Magic, ta. I recently bought my Bilstein rear shocks from POTN as demon tweaks had sent me ones for an e85 and were adamant they were the correct ones for the e89.....they weren't.

It’s a good job the roof isn’t fixed… once fitted it doesn’t look too aggressive, with attractive tailpipes. I did have to go back with the Mercedes to collect the factory exhaust as I didn’t fancy a drive home with a whole system hanging out the top!

You could try one of those fart can mufflers like kids put on their ricers...

I like the standard sound. Subtle without the ridiculous nails in tin can sound you get from F types or Porsche.

What we can't appreciate sat in the car is it has one of the best drive by sounds.
I would hear my colleague drive off in her car down the country lanes.
A few have said how nice it sounds driving off.

BMW do make a louder exhaust for the e89 - fitted to the 35is as standard, I expect it will fit other models.

No idea on price, I expect a lot. In my mind's eye I think something like £2k?

The 35i and 35is exhaust systems have two feeds into the collector before splitting out to the final cans…N20/52 have one feed...the 35is has a louder exhaust than the 35i…

Not really technically or financially viable..

I used these guys on my 35is..but they do this kit for the 23i..

Very good quality..lovely ‘tone’…

Not sure if you’ll need to do any cutting n shutting ..I assume if you buy all the parts it just bolts up..best to check..
