In response to the above post by Fred as to why I hadn't put up more details when I started this post, if you read it through I think I said it's a reluctant sale and the reason behind it is Ill health, not mine but the wife's so other more important issues was going on and the details had to wait. Anyway, I'm in no rush to sell while it's still with me I can carry on polishing it. :D
You have the patience and tolerance of a saint!
Indeed he has, all who know Brian know him to be a decent honest guy,
Yet some seem to be hell bent and spoiling his thread , tbh im dumfounded at these s**t houses.
They have no intention of buying his Zed so why give him all this s**t, he doesnt need it .
They need to get a life and troll some other forum.

Yes I hope all is well with your wife.

I’ve just looked at my brochure and price list.

The extended nappa leather was a £2840 option alone!

Well, I've just read all this thread and I have noticed two salient points:

1. The OP is being extremely patient! If it were me, then a couple of people on here would have been 'taken round the back of the hangar' by now.

2. The long-standing members are being far more supportive. Whatever their personal opinions, they are defending the right of the OP to advertise his car for any damn price he likes. He will learn whether this is price is acceptable or not.
The 'flak' is mainly coming from recent joiners. Perhaps this is due to a lack of understanding that THIS forum appreciates a standard of etiquette unlikely to be found elsewhere; in which case, may you learn quickly. Or in one particular case it appears to be a case of joining only to find a car to buy but thinking they have the right to come wading in with unwanted abuse. Look, if you want to buy a car, read the advert. If you don't like it, move on to find one you do like, but in the meantime STFU on this thread!

OP, GLWTS.

The Evora is fantastic Brian but unfortunately up for sale now as it's just wasted for my new shorter commute so using the VX turbo as my weekender, your z4 was my daily on my longer commute and pretty much had the roof off in all temperatures with those fantastic heated seats but those straight 6 engines are the stars of the show without a doubt, there's a massive difference between a 6k si and a 9k si for sale be it paintwork, wheels and tyres, rust, mileage etc etc just as there is on 986 Boxters, yours needs absolutely nothing doing to it so how some of these uneducated experts on here play down the price of yours and pick it to pieces absolutely baffles me when they've not even seen it, they're certainly of no benefit to this forum, hopefully it prices them out of it anyway even though they've probably got no intentions of buying such a sorted car, get it on Pistonheads and Autotrader to widen the audience Brian just so you can avoid anymore diatribe, all the very best mate 👍

I am a little confused by this post. I thought that the forum etiquette was basically "chat about cars for sale and values, but be fair and reasonable". I thought the spirit of the forum was about supporting sellers to sell and supporting buyers to buy - with fair prices being preferable to rip-off prices (and by rip-off I mean in both directions - I would like to think if someone came on here offering one at half it's value people would educate the seller... though I must admit that if I see one half price I'll be interested in buying!) I thought the criticism on this thread has been pretty fair and limited to a very small number of specific issues relating to the ad and what is clearly a very nice car, much better than most similar cars on the market. Maybe a few posts have overstepped the mark, not sure, but I suspect tone more than anything.

Does forum etiquette discourage all posting on for sale threads other than "I am interested" and "when was it last serviced?" type comments and questions? Or does it just discourage negativity (negativity being something that can be fair or unfair, and obviously I support the deletion of unfair negativity)?
Fred, it's a fairly simple statement. Surely you can't be confused by it!
You look, you don't like the car or the price. Move on. Don't sit there digging up issues against the OP.
Do you wander into car showrooms and dispute the price?

Part of the reason I just posted just now was to see if you were referring to me or not as I genuinely didn't know.

I am going through my posts on this thread now and believe everything I have said relating to this car is reasonable. Please point out where I have crossed the etiquette line and I will endeavour to learn from it (or leave the forum). Please point out where I have said that I think the price is too high, as I don't think I have once said that. [I did say that if I was looking for a nice E85 I would not be looking for a £9,000 nice one, but I quite definitely did not say "no E85 is worth £9k" or "this E85 is not worth £9k", mainly because I do not know that either statement would be true!]

If the rules / eitquette are "no chatting on sales forums" then let me know.

I will note that I am used to being misinterpreted, and I would not be surprised if the issue is my tone, but when you actually read what I say I have said nothing wrong.

For example OP had been told his underside was "Good, no issues". I asked "Does this mean, "absolutely immaculate" or does it mean "rust everywhere, but it's an 18 year old car and it's only surface rust, nothing bad at all, so what do you expect?" I'm not sure that you know the answer to that, let alone anyone else." What I was getting at is that the asking price (which may or may not be fair, I've not seen the car so I don't know) is fairly high, and based on OPs own words we don't know whether the underside is good for an 18 year old car, but nothing special, or literally the best in the country by a mile, or anywhere in between. I stand by my comment as reasonably neutral and absolutely fair, but I get that maybe some people read it quickly and interpretted as me questioning his honesty or suggesting the car was rusty when (obviously) I have no idea what its like underneath beyond the OPs words which I have no reason to doubt.

I note I said "OPs car looks lovely, both in terms of condition and my tastes" - that doesn't suggest I don't like the car. In fact it makes it sound like I think the car is great!

I meant that... it is not my dream E85, but in terms of engine, transmission, colours (interior and exterior) and condition it appears to be reasonably close! And given how many things it has going for it it might be worth asking! And even if it's not worth asking someone might pay it anyway because it is perfect for them. If you want those colours and model and low mileage and good order you could have an incredibly long wait if you don't buy this one.
I got three lines down and gave up.

I'm sorry to hear that. I spent a very long time writing that in the hope that you would read it and either accept that my behaviour on this thread is OK, or tell me exactly where I have gone wrong according to forum etiquette.

Never mind.

May I take this opportunity to thank you for the long and incredibly helpful chat we had. It was truly appreciated.
It’s a car forum. People can be very sensitive on sale threads.

In this case, though, it hasn't been the OP/ seller. He has had the patience of a saint TBH.

There are many now who won't advertise their cars on this forum due to the amount of 'discussions' that happen within their for sale threads. It ruins any chance of the seller having chance of a sale. People will read the comments and run a mile. Which is a shame, as then they will be advertised with all the other dross on the national sites, so harder to distinguish good from bad.

Many car forums forbid sales ads having any comments, for this very reason. This one is heading the same way IMO.

I am not wholly innocent, but tend to only make comments if the seller is a newbie looking for a free advert, or gets the hump for no good reason. Neither of those have been the case here.

OP, I would distance yourself from this thread and start another. GLWTS.
All good things come to those who wait. I'm really impatient which explains a lot.
