Just posting to say the car is very much alive and well and I am still enjoying it! Given it another good clean inside and out, plus a polish

Front grill changed to all black… waiting for new bonnet badge and red 3rd brake light to be delivered
Wheels still annoying me though. The cleaner I get the rest of the car the worse they look…
What budget?

Why people are so reluctant to pay £40 for such a profound improvement, I’ll never know. Looking good there.

Some great improvements there.
I hate to think what a full refurb of a set of 108 wheels is likely to cost as they need to be split for a proper job, and with 20 bolts in each wheel a few are likely to snap. I just bought some other wheels and sold my 108s while they still looked smart to avoid that problem!
Coupes because stunning!

Thanks both. The bonnet badge is expensive but worth it, in my opinion. Regarding the wheels, if I decide to do something about them I will probably go for a set of 19" CSLs as I love the look of them. Not sure yet though as there was a clear budget for this project and I have already exceeded that! Plus the VANOS code is still annoyingly present so thinking about trying the next option (i.e. arranging to have the VANOS unit dismantled to see if it can be saved or needs to be replaced, as per advice from Martin (Enuff Zed))
Love driving it though - my Tesla is covered in cobwebs from lack of use!

The timing is out. You need a N52 cam locking kit and to re time it.Wayo11 wrote: ↑Tue May 21, 2024 11:56 am Thanks both. The bonnet badge is expensive but worth it, in my opinion. Very true
The timing is out. You need a N52 cam locking kit and to re time it.
Your inlet is 15 degrees out.
Is that consistent with these error codes?

That never popped up as an option while I was trying to sort it,
And why would it suddenly go 15 degrees out.

I’m sure you showed me something on the original thread where the inlet or exhaust was out.enuff_zed wrote: ↑Tue May 21, 2024 3:08 pmMr Tidy wrote: ↑Mon May 20, 2024 9:19 pmSome great improvements there.

In that case I may have missed it. Apologies. I honestly thought our discussion had ended at a vanos strip at best. Given the budget and the nature of the fault it was decided to live with it.j3nks79 wrote: ↑Tue May 21, 2024 3:27 pmI’m sure you showed me something on the original thread where the inlet or exhaust was out.enuff_zed wrote: ↑Tue May 21, 2024 3:08 pmMr Tidy wrote: ↑Mon May 20, 2024 9:19 pm Some great improvements there.

Had we realised that Mark was going to like it so much he’d bust the budget then I would probably have dived in and fixed it.

Is there anyone that can be recommended in the South West area with the correct equipment and knowledge to check and correct the timing?

The 3rd team involved in our trip have purchased their car… they were going for a Jag XK but changed their mind. I am almost too embarrassed to show you what they have bought. They have really let the side down with this…
