So far I've been alternating between Chris Knott and Adrian Flux with mine as neither seems able to offer a competitive renewal price.
I can't use comparison sites because I have a few modifications on it, like col-overs and a strut brace. Last June I paid Chris Knott £370 for a full Protected NCD with £350 excess and 5,000 mileage limit. Being over 60 probably helps, but living in Surrey probably doesn't!

Also Churchill. Similar age, 2000 miles a year as 2nd car (yea I know I need to use it more). Renewal was £160 something last renewal in October. Have also used classicline in the past who can also do agreed valuation.
Z4MR E85 for sunny day Hooning.

I’ve been with Classic Line for years for my Z4MC. 55 with 10 years NCD, Nottinghamshire, clean licence, track-day cover (which I don’t need but is included as standard) 3000 miles pa, agreed valuation of £25k. Renewal was £360-ish, which was about what it’s been the last few years and cheaper than comparison sites.

I just phoned REIS and they wouldn't quote me unless it was for motorsport use and I held a race licence.taz1966 wrote: ↑Mon Apr 22, 2024 7:20 pmHi Tom,TomK wrote: ↑Mon Apr 22, 2024 5:15 pmTrue, but I haven't looked around for 8 years or so as my current insurer have never really put the price up, it's gone down (slightly), and it has always seemed a fair price to me.Rockhopper wrote: ↑Mon Apr 22, 2024 5:03 pm I also cant believe people still accept their renewal without even checking out the competition. My insurance these days is half what it used to be, i change companies every year.
Reis. 42yr, central london, secure stored, 10yrs ncb, unlimited mods, 22k valuation, 3k miles pa, 6 included trackdays/yr (including european) £350.
Caveat with them is that the car must be modified, and they tend to prefer it as a 2nd etc car, but for years I had it as the only car and it made little difference after a chat with underwriter.
Who are you with?

My renewal has just come in, and the good news it's exactly the same price as last year. Bad news is it's still £695. I'm in my 50s, 12 years NCB, one SP50 from July 2020.
I'll do the usual round of phone calls but don't expect to beat that price, given most underwriters won't touch a modified car in East London.

I am around £250 to 270 most years, other than when I went from 0 points to 6 points for speeding in 2017.....and it went to over £650!!
But has since came back down to around the previous years.
That's fine West of Scotland right enough, protected ncb,5k a year Mileage, but with Advanced driving accreditation/discount,etc.
Was on guaranteed value,£19,190 last summer, but insurer dropped that at the start of the year, policy up for Renewal in the summer,so will look again at guaranteed value elsewhere.
Mods listed are Brakes(uprated Calipers etc, which have actually been removed for the time being).

Mine went from approx £792 to £1312 this year albeit for a Z4M and an F82 M4 with Admiral.
I had a claim last year after someone drove into me, but it still hurt.

Weird. They did change ownership last year, but they have no issue reinsuring my car, that said it has to be a second car and used for trackdays. I have a race licence but they don't know this and the car certainly isn't used competitively.
I guess the new owner or underwriter is limiting new business in this area.

Well I didn’t expect that!
I’ve just had my insurance renewal come through and the price has come down from £287 to £243.
Just off to the fridge to celebrate with a cold one
Well, I suppose there has to be an upside in becoming an old fart and being able to insure through Saga…..
