Urgent warning to E89 drivers who like walking!

Post by Blurredman » Mon May 06, 2024 5:34 pm

Today I had the dreaded 'roof goes halfway down and light flashes red' scenario. Put the roof back up. Repeated. Same thing.

Jumping out of the car and feeling irritated that a) I was going to have to get something else fixed and b) I was really looking forward to my trip out to go walking over the hills, I unearthed a gem of information. I shall now pass that on to you good folk.

See where is says don't put cases on top of the pull-down cover?

Applies to walking sticks too!

I had my car 11 years now, you know i'm not sure my car has the warning sticker, never noticed.
I crushed a empty cake box once.

I must remind you your car is for driving. Not walking. Use it properly.

The E89 roof is fragile enough, without helping it to break!
All good things come to those who wait. I'm really impatient which explains a lot.

You’re right there! Did make me realise how strong the hydraulic system is if it can bend that pole so easily. Wouldn’t want to get someone’s arm trapped in there…

TBH if you regularly carry people in the boot of a car, I would recommend an estate. Much more room! :D

Urgent warning to E89 drivers who like walking!

I nearly trapped my fingers in the soft close boot last week. The boot was fully loaded and it didn't look like it had shut properly so I went to lift the boot lid just as it decided to fully shut itself. That was painful as it started crushing my fingertips but could have been a lot worse as I managed to get them out from between the boot and the boot lid pretty quickly.

Happened to me a few weeks ago. Turned out my wife put her Coach purse with Maui Jim sunglasses in that side area of the boot. Surprisingly nothing was damaged.
