Need a new Battery

Post by Obicoke » Sun May 05, 2024 9:08 am

Hi, Could I have some advice please.
My current battery a Varta F17 800Amps 95ah is nearly dead has dropped to around 450Amps. So struggled to start the car.
Whilst looking for another 017 I saw a 019. Yuasa HSB019 or YBX5019, which is the same size 353mm x 175 x 190. It has 900Amps and 100ah. Would this be okay ?
It says doesn't fit on Halfords and advises me to go for a Yuasa HSB096 which is 740Amps 80ah, which is far less than I have already and is smaller size at 278mm x 175 x 190. I've also looked at the HSB010 which is the same width battery but only 175mm height. This one is 800Amps and 85ah, but I want a good fit.
I just want to know would the HSB019 be okay to use?

You do need to reset the charging system for the proper charge rate.

You’ve lost me. How do you mean reset the charge system?

I think he means the stop-start system in some BMWs needs to have the battery registered with the ECU but not in the E85

Halfords fitted a Yuasa HSB110 battery in June 2020 and it's still going strong. The Zed is a daily driver as well.

I just bought this. It's the perfect fit (especially height wise) and I think there is a bank holiday discount code at present:

First thing I did for my E85 was buy a new battery, so many issues come of a duff one. I went around the houses like you and eventually went with this one https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/274694047575 as recommended on here by a few people.

Fits perfectly and starts on the button.
