Earth locations

Post by bigwinn » Wed May 01, 2024 9:34 pm

Hi all

I’m trying to sort my various project car gremlins I thought it’s worth checking all the earth locations (90% I found were undone)

Is there a definitive list to see if I’ve missed one? I tried TIS to no avail…

I was surprised how many there were!!

Yeah there are bloody hundreds of them on any car. Don't really know why, as the car IS the earth.
My mate, who is a bit of an electrical wizard, tried explaining it all a while ago. It is something to do with ''groups of circuits" and being able to isolate them in groups via the earths, but I switched off (pun) after a few minutes. :)

They do seem to like using a comb fitment to connect multiple earth wires to it at a single connection point to the body of the car. Check the ones you find are clean and tight where the comb fits to the body. There is at least one comb in the engine bay, maybe another in the boot behind the carpets.

Don't suppose you have one of those for the Z3? :)
