Thanks Iain, think I've recorded upto 6 albums before its packed up :(

I only bought it as its supposidly been serviced, new belt, capacitors (Apparently). Contacted the ebay seller and will be sending it back. Just deciding on a refund or to ask if it can be looked at and repaired. The seller does have other Teac players so might just ask for a swap.

It’s an omen Tim!
You don't stop playing when you get old - You get old when you stop playing!
So I bought a 35is with all the toys to play with.

If you just want any old CD player, you can buy them new for pennies. I bought a Sony DVD player a couple of years ago for £49. It has internet access, netflix and everything. It has performed faultlessly, although it isn't used much TBH.

Or a Panasonic is £10 more!
All good things come to those who wait. I'm really impatient which explains a lot.

F31 320i. Good car.
E89 20i Now fully dried
Z3 'free litre'. Project and a half. Complicated!
Mazda3 sold
Tatty old R56 Mini Cooper. Money pit!

Thanks for the info

I looked at new ones but I really wanted something from the era :) that's fits in better with the Sony I've got from the 90s :) hence going for the Teac.

I'll be sending the player back next week, more than happy if the seller can fix it or swap it for another.

If all else fails I can just get a new one.

Don’t dismiss the Denon, it is much newer but looks like it fits your setup. I have used this one in my office for 15 years or so (and added a Sonos to it for streaming)

Thanks for the heads up on this one

I'm unsure if this has a Line Out so I can plug it into my Sony, I assume the Denon has a preamp and seperate speaker connections?

The Teac has no preamp just the Line out for L and R and uses the Sony amp etc

I have always had a bit of a 'thing' for Denon. Their UK HQ was just up the road from me and I always felt they were the 'average man's audiophile offering'.

However, I do have a Denon AV amp and a Yamaha one at present and the Yammy is actually much better sound wise IMHO.
