Wanted drain plugs

Post by davidfairhurst » Mon Sep 18, 2023 8:43 pm

Evening all

I am looking for o/s and n/s drain plugs which go on the top of the front door glass seals. They are small triangular rubber seals which push into the top of the door glass seal on the screen pillar. If anyone has any I would appreciate it if I could purchase them from you

Pretty sure the windscreen rubber is one big piece, if thats what you mean? Left side, top and right side.
So not sure you can get triangles separately, unless you get something universal from the likes of ebay...

I have just replaced the windscreen rubber on mine, and it is a single piece without anything else.

Perhaps a picture might help if you have a different non OEM rubber fitted?

Hi pvr and thanks for your reply.
The screen rubber is indeed in one peice. I have a problem with water ingress through the door window from where the screen rubber and window rubber meet and then running down the seal and dripping into footwell. The screen rubber seems to be in very good condition, drain holes are fine and not blocked etc. There is a small drain plug missing from the screen rubber, I have literally just taken the one out of the n/s and tried it into the o/s but still leaking. I have also tried all the window resets, adjusting height, camber, gummi pledge etc etc,
Sorry for bothering you with this, maybe I should post in the problem section. This is a photo of the part I was looking for but it doesn’t look like I may need it.
Many thanks again
Kind regards
Dave

Looks like a water channel to me, i.e. this will let water run out/away from the car.

If you wanted to block it, a small blob of black silicone would be my suggestion, however it doesn't look like it is supposed to be blocked. The small triangle is probably a cover, to prevent larger debris entering and clogging the system. I don't know that, but I'm assuming thats the case.

Wanted drain plugs

Post by davidfairhurst » Tue Sep 19, 2023 2:43 pm

Hi kis and thanks for your reply

The reason I’m looking for the drain plug is I thought it could be the issue for water leaking through the top right of my drivers window, but after doing some tests I’ve found out it’s not. I’m not sure what purpose these plugs serve tho.
I will put a post on E85 problems re the water leak in due course.
Thanks for your input by the way
Kind regards
Dave

I can’t find them on any parts diagram, I’ve tried REAL OEM etc, I will go to my main dealer tomorrow but I have a feeling they could be part of the screen rubber itself.
If anyone knows otherwise I would really appreciate it
Many thanks
Dave

Do you have a lot of wind noise ? The rubber position seems not very good and on mine, 1mm gap made a loud noise when driving. To test it, put masking tape over it and drive and hear the different (roof down of course)

No wind noise just water leaking.
Slight wind noise on the passenger side though, I rectified that previously by ensuring the glass was pushing up tighter against the seal

Mine is passenger side as well. If you have 1 mm gap between the windscreen surround and the car rubber it will make a lot of noise. I am in the process of sticking that down to prevent it.

Water leaking generally inside the cabin is due to failed door membrane. There are other causes, but that’s the top culprit! Have a search for water and door membrane and that’ll give you a steer
