The M140i was in for its MOT today, its 5th one.
Think it's the first occasion I've received a video of the MOT test results from BMW. Hyundai have sent me one each year for the Kona, surprised BMW dont seem as proactive at times. As I don't have access to a car lift its the first time I've really been able to see the underside of the car in detail.
Not looking too bad at 7 years, a few cobwebs
but overall still pretty clean.

It was nice receive a compliment from the tester that car was a pleasure to work on.

You don't stop playing when you get old - You get old when you stop playing!
So I bought a 35is with all the toys to play with.

Thanks Ron, I had thought of treating the underside with something like Lanoguard but it might do more harm than good and to just leave it. I'm pretty sure I've not used it when the roads have been wet since new so maybe no point in rustproofing it.
It was forecast heavy showers today but luckily they didn't appear

My car does get wet but only during summer time - it always goes away after drying out,
I’m not going to put any jollop on my car given that it never ever sees a salty road,
I will let the next owner worry about rust!

Yes, does seem a little pointless especially if the car never sees any salt.
I remember as as a kid my dad used to save the cars old engine oil and he'd paint the underside of the car with it but then that was in the days when Jap cars he had never lasted more than a year

My late father in law. - old school boy born 1904
Used to use old engine oil with paraffin - he said to allow it to creep into nooks and crannies!
There was no underbody rust on his cars
He always did them from day one and ever year afterwards.
They did stink for a while after application tho !

And then there was the underseal that used to be slapped on followed by old engine oil each year to stop the underseal from drying out I remember buying one or two Jap cars from the 80s that had been undersealed and once the water got in under the underseal that was it.ronk wrote: ↑Mon Jul 17, 2023 9:28 pm My late father in law. - old school boy born 1904
