That’s with £100 excess. My car has done 39K miles. Last year I paid £630 (or there about) and I had 1 claim so was a bit shocked with the lower price. Not complaining though……

This has been an eye-opening thread. I had looked at a third party warranty but was quoted £2200 for 3 years which seemed expensive. Given what I've read here I just got a quote for the BMW warranty and for my car it's £452 per year with a £250 excess. That looks like a no brainer for peace of mind. However I did notice that the roof mechanism isn't covered.

Not my understanding regarding Roof Mechanism as it’s a “factory fitted mechanical and electrical component” and under comprehensive cover it is included. Comprehensive Component Cover is defined as follows:
“The maximum total claims liability covered by the BMW Insured Warranty Comprehensive Component Cover is the purchase price paid for the insured vehicle, inclusive of VAT. Your Comprehensive Component Cover covers all factory fitted mechanical and electrical components of the insured vehicle with the exception of the following.
Battery, BMW i3 and BMW i8 high voltage and auxiliary batteries, external connectivity charging cables, external recharging station, all exhaust components (except catalytic converter), brake and clutch facings, discs and drums, bulbs and fuses, channels and guides, weather strips and seals, handles, hinges and check straps, trim, upholstery and cosmetics finishes, bodywork, paintwork, wheels and tyres, wiper blades and arms, glass, auxiliary drive belts, coolant and fuel hoses, the cleaning or adjustment of any component, and all service items which will require periodic replacement.”
Pretty sure Roof and Mechanism would be specifically listed if not covered?

I've been reading more about this, and it looks like the hood could be covered e.g. failure of the electrics or mechanical movement. But I've found one claim being turned down due to the hood failure being a knock-on effect of blocked drainage channels which isn't covered under warranty. This was a few years ago though.

Agree it’s all about peace of mind. I’m sure we can all afford a £400 repair, but suddenly getting a 2k repair will hurt. Imagine a 5k repair on a gear box, although the gearbox is pretty bullet proof.

I’ve hid the BMW insured warranty an the £440 is about correct - but that doesn’t Include the first £250 of the claim!

Is that with BMW direct?Obs-Com wrote: ↑Sun Jun 04, 2023 9:46 pm I’ve just renewed my BMW comprehensive warranty and include comprehensive European Breakdown at a cost of £440 till June 2024. I simply view it as an insurance policy that will cover the unexpected. Gives me peace of mind and allows me to enjoy my Euro Tours more (Pyrenees trip for the Tour de France coming up early July ) plus, it’s transferable to a new owner if I decide it’s time for a change (can’t think why I would though) so attractive for any potential buyers. Hopefully I’ll never need to use it but who knows!
How did you get it at that cost? I got quoted over 700

From memory, it’s £700 it there is no excess payment at a claim.

Hmm yeh now I’ve actually read page 2 of this thread I’ve had a play with the excesses.
Still £452 for mine (on 23500miles) with a £250 excess and no roadside assistance for the comprehensive cover
Did you guys go toe this bmw warranty website for quotes or direct to dealers?

I think there is a difference in price if you renew before yours expires or after.Sladester100 wrote: ↑Sun Jun 11, 2023 2:29 amHmm yeh now I’ve actually read page 2 of this thread I’ve had a play with the excesses.

Yes direct from BMW website. £440 for comprehensive cover (£250 excess) and full Euro breakdown cover. Exactly same as last year when I first took it out.Sladester100 wrote: ↑Sat Jun 10, 2023 7:32 amIs that with BMW direct?Obs-Com wrote: ↑Sun Jun 04, 2023 9:46 pm I’ve just renewed my BMW comprehensive warranty and include comprehensive European Breakdown at a cost of £440 till June 2024.
