i believe that cruise control is an aftermarket feature to add! What sort of money are we talking here?

Did I not see from a different thread that you own an E86 coupe OP?
Responses on here will presume you have an E89 (as it's in the E89 section). I don't know if the retrofit cruise control is any more difficult but it won't be the same!

One was original equipment on my E89.

(I never use it, because I don't know how. Well, I know how to switch it on, but not how to use it on a modern motorway, where speeds are all over the place most of the time.)

I understand where you are coming from TBH.
The lower stalk-mounted cruise control on the E89 is not the easiest to use TBH. I can never remember which way to pull-push-up-down for cancel, speed up, down and resume etc.
Steering wheel mounted cruise control buttons are a LOT easier, as at least you can see them!

But then radar cruise is also a nightmare; the amount of times I've been sat behind a lorry doing 56mph and didn't realise. Don't get me started on lane-assist either. PITA, that is!

Worse than that, I once pulled out of the office car park and ended up behind a car transporter. It was several minutes before I realised he was parked up and not at the back of a traffic jam!

I use cruise control all the time to stop going too fast in a 30 limit. In any modern car it is far too easy to do.

Many years ago, a friend's mother remarked at how nippy their brand new Triumph Dolomite Sprint was. He had to point out that she was reading 30 x 100 RPM and actually doing 50 MPH.

I use cruise all the time, so much easier but active on my other car is a pain, more to do with people cutting in front causing you to slow down, oh and SMBO also does the sitting behind stuff, catches up at 70 and slows down to 60 to match the vehicle in front and just sits there for 10 miles with the right lane empty - drives me mad :headbang:

I also use my cruise control (thanks @AnubisZed) for maintaining my speed where there are cameras and in particular in average speed zones. Totally different arrangement in my F11 5 series touring keeps me on my toes regarding which way to waggle the stalk in the z4 :D

I was honestly shocked that it would engage cruise at 170mph, but my foot was getting tired pressing that accelerator after a bit, and I didn't want to max out. Already needing a DTC service...
