Excessive water ingress

I'd like to know what the outcome of this was. Not had a screen replaced on my Z4 but if I had to then it'll be a guide on what to look for.

Excessive water ingress

Autoglass replaced my windscreen when it was a few months old. The front facing camera didn’t work after that, disabling the lane departure warning and HUD features. It eventually went back to BMW to get fixed.

I haven’t had any water ingress problems but then the car is usually garaged when not in use.

So quick update…. Still not fixed. The car went to BMW last week and its apparently a blocked drain hole that backed up and was causing the water to enter the compartment. Turns out it was freak timing and exceptionally bad weather that made it look like it was the windscreen

I don't have a quote yet for the cost of the repair, but BMw are saying that the entire carpet needs replacing 😬🫤

Any idea which drain hole it was so I can keep an eye on it?

The moment I saw your photo I recognised it was from a blocked drain plug, I wish I had responded sooner, could have saved you the hassle with the windscreen (sorry!).

BMW will indeed replace the full interior carpet, I had very slight dampness in the same place, noticed a few days after purchase. Dealer had the car about 7 working days. Good as new now and has that new car smell once again. All covered under warranty with no quibbles whatsoever.

The drain is behind the drivers seat, I asked the dealer and was told its not an owner serviceable part. I did manage to find a diagram of it (sorry, can't locate it this morning)....it looked fairly deep down in to the roof mechanism. Could be wrong though.

Good luck with getting yours replaced!

Don't worry about it Rockford, you cant be online all the time 👍.

Good news is despite it not being covered under warranty due to the age of the vehicle (19 plate), as I've only had the car about 9 months and purchased from a dealer they are doing the work at their own cost as a goodwill gesture.

If you bought the car from bmw then it comes with a 12
Month warranty so they would have to pay it.

This drain hole is concerning though. If we can’t clean it ourselves then we have a problem. Extended warranty doesn’t cover leaks.
