When replacing engine mounts and rod bearings, what is the best method to mount a standard engine support brace? I have seen three methods:
1) Place engine support brace diagonally between one strut tower and one front chassis support
2) Put two blocks of wood parallel between the strut towers and front chassis supports for the legs of the engine support brace to rest on
3) Place engine support brace between the firewall support and the front cross member where the hood latch is located

I've currently got the engine support using your number 3, blocks of wood going across the strut towers is not a good idea imho, no flat surface for them and it's not necessary with method 3.

Thanks, could you post a picture of the placement on your car? I was not sure if the firewall brace support and the hood latch area are structurally able to handle holding the engine for multiple hours.
Here is the video where I saw method 3: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aYw8zq85-J8

Thank you john, that is very helpful! I didn't think about the second hook on the rear engine bracket. Did the rear hook and chain come with the bar or did you have to buy those separately?

No they came with the bar robear. Remember the gearbox is still supported at the propshaft end on its own mounts so the engine bar in this position with the two lifting chains isn't causing any issues to the bulkhead or slam panel, which has good steel all the way round it and the brace bars.
Hope you get on ok.
