Should front and rear suspension height match?

Post by Orlandovjc1 » Sat May 27, 2023 1:02 am

My front shock were shot, so I replaced them today and now the distance from the fender to the ground is 27", while the back is only 26".... I saw something that said this was correct for a RWD, but only one article on that.

Should they both be the same? If so should I have them adjusted or just wait for them to settle (and how long on that)?

Should front and rear suspension height match?

Post by Roberltd2 » Sat May 27, 2023 1:50 am

I recently had my front shocks & springs replaced. Afterwards, the front end seemed to be a bit higher than I expected it to be, so I asked my mechanic if maybe I'd bought the wrong set of springs - standard instead of sport kind of thing?
However, he assured me that I'd ordered the correct springs - the ones he took out still had a BMW label on them so were probably original items.
He did advise though that I should run the car for about a month and then get the tracking checked out.
All the best,
Robert.

Did you change the springs as well? Are you 100% sure the spring is seated correctly on the strut?

Doesn't make sense that they are higher with only shock change. I advise you change the front and rear springs to even it out-they are probably shot anyway. You will notice quite a difference when you do this....
