Newbie- Saying hi :)

Post by Shadbolt83 » Thu May 11, 2023 9:07 am

Hi peeps,

New Member, but not yet a new owner

After years of looking at Z4's but not being in a position to own (family life and house purchase came first) I've decided now is the time to get rid of the sensible car and finally get the car I've always wanted.

I roughly know what I want, E85 must be manual and prefer a 3.0 over the 2.5 unless it's a 2.5si. I have a budget around £6k. I've been doing my research and will read up on threads to get an idea what to look for. I,e rusty wheel arches, Roof motor relocate etc, but not afraid to get the spanners out and handy with doing my own service and mechanical work if needed. But otherwise happy for pointers :D

Just wanted to say hi and will probably pop a WANTED post up on the for sale section soon.

Look forward to being a Z4 Forum member with an actual Z4 soon :D

Welcome aboard.
I saw this one in the flesh a week or so back when I relocated the roof motor and fitted a new pump to it.
Very nice car, worth a look.

Thanks zed,

Yeah I had noticed that one, apart from being 3 hours from me I am tempted. Had ruled out the 3.0si as being too rare but this may be worth a look.

Annoyingly, a can't properly start the search until after next week as I'm away from Sunday. Doubt this will still be available by then but will bare it very much in mind. 😀

To find one you really want you are going to have to be prepared to travel.
Depending where you come from it's not a bad run.
It is about a half mile off the A11 dual-carriageway and that links directly to the A14.
I can get all the way to Gatwick, Swansea, and north of the Lakes on nothing less than dual-carriageway.

True, and noted. Having a good look the spec looks great, Cruise control is a major plus for me. Just not a fan of the blue trim :D. I still may sleep on it an maybe pop the seller a message. You seem to be friends having done the roof motor and living local, Nice to see a member selling as it does give me confidence it's been well looked after. :)

Now, Sterling grey Z4 2.2 with cup holders, stubby aerial and sport seats. Roadsters ‘cause they’re great with the roof down.
Ford Anglia, Red Sprite, a few MG midgets, MGB Roadster and yellow Ford Capri, all gone many years now.

I see your point, but it seems to be quite a rare interior colour so potentially 'exclusive'. You don't look at the mantel piece whilst poking the fire, anyway! :D

Welcome BTW. Narfuk is easy from you (although quite a distance). M4, M25, M11, A11. You will know when you are getting close, all the pedestrian couples holding hands look very, very similar.
All good things come to those who wait. I'm really impatient which explains a lot.

F31 320i. Good car.
E89 20i Now fully dried
Z3 'free litre'. Project and a half. Complicated!
Mazda3 sold
Tatty old R56 Mini Cooper. Money pit!

Watch for the front strut mountings, they can mushroom out. If you see a car you like, put the details up on the forum so the members can give you some advice. https://classicsworld.co.uk/guides/bmw- ... ers-guide/
