Thanks for the reply - yep I meant get someone to do it, not do it myself! Fair chunk of cash but the result is fantastic, so quite a tempting proposition!john-e89 wrote: ↑Fri Mar 31, 2023 8:04 pmCheers Ed,
I did the dry icing myself. I take it when you say do it yourself you mean get it done somewhere as it's not a diy job, I'm going to be doing it as well the soda and vapour blasting. It's pretty expensive tbh, unfortunately with energy costs as they are the cost of ice has more than doubled, it's now £3 a kilo, and I used 200 kilo on the M, so you're looking ballpark at £1400 for a thorough clean underneath and wheel arches.
Cheers

I think how someone needs to look at it is how long are they going to keep the car because dry icing is the best way to clean, it's superior to hot water, doesn't dry bushes out, doesn't affect electrics either, it gives the perfect base to apply, say, lano guard etc, as well as get the underneath clean for any rust issues to be addressed.Ed Doe wrote: ↑Sat Apr 01, 2023 5:39 pmThanks for the reply - yep I meant get someone to do it, not do it myself! Thanks for sharing this john-e89 . Had never heard of dry icing. Looking at this random YT video, it’s doing wonders!

Great work, fascinating stuff that dry ice cleaning..
We choose to go to on with this endeavour at this time and do the other things, not because they are easy, but because they are hard…

Cheers Ian....it's been very satisfying to do I must say, like modding a year old car, so clean and the fact it's been garaged all it's life meant no seized or rusted bolts, no heat needed, everything came off with zero issues even the exhaust bolts could have been reused it was that easy, meaning no swearing and not a drop of blood wasted on skinned knuckles....

Well! Certainly worth the effort. I can derive a huge amount of pleasure from looking at a car like that. It’s only nuts like us Forum members who understand that.john-e89 wrote: ↑Mon Apr 03, 2023 10:58 pmCheers Ian....it's been very satisfying to do I must say, like modding a year old car, so clean and the fact it's been garaged all it's life meant no seized or rusted bolts, no heat needed, everything came off with zero issues even the exhaust bolts could have been reused it was that easy, meaning no swearing and not a drop of blood wasted on skinned knuckles....
