Newbie: White residue or clearcoat?
Hi
I have never hand washed my car before but decided to give it a go since i am rarely happy with the results from a car wash. Very satisfying but a hard work, especially on a car which wasn't washed for months. Tree sap was super difficult but overall i am happy. I used Autoglym tar remover for tree sap, and then Autoglym Foaming car wash. The only thing is that after washing I noticed a weird white residue mostly on the roof and bonnet. It does not come off easily. Actually it does not come off at all. A while ago there was a large construction site next to my house and some neighbours complained that cement residue was settling on their cars. Can it be it? Any advice on how to get rid of it?
Some people suggested it may be a clear coat giving up.
My plan before I discovered it was to use Autoglym Super Reisin Polish applied by hand. I am not comfortable yet with using machines. Is it likely to work on these spots (I would check but SRP is still in the post).
Thank you

That looks like microblistering of the clearcoat.

Can't help I'm afraid, but is there a reason you've asked on a Z4 owners forum?

Yes, because I did not have a coffee yet
I googled a problem and this forum popped up. I registered and asked, not thinking what Z4 relates to. Believe me or not, I only realised after you asked a question. Embarrassing. Apologies. Should I delete the post? Or just take out the picture of my non-Z4 vehicle?
Regards and thank you for being polite to stupidity.

Well any car enthusiast's forum will be the place to ask for paintwork advice, and you've made an apology, so leave your post as it is and hopefully someone can advise you.Pietrach wrote: ↑Mon Mar 06, 2023 11:16 amYes, because I did not have a coffee yet

Thank you and I appreciate.
A coffee was the first thing I did after your post I will look for a Mazda version of your forum, as this seems like a lovely thriving community.

Probably clear coat issues but I think I'd try clay bar with soapy water before trying to grind of any contamination with polish or cutting compound. Utube video will explain how to claybar.
