M market watch

Post by CSK423 » Thu Mar 09, 2023 11:39 am

I've had a bit of chat, the PDC rear is factory and the front is retro fit. Although the rear still looks retrofit to me ?

It's due a service, possibly an Insp 2 (last service was may 21 which just lists Oil, previous Insp 2 was 2019 and 6k miles) going by the history and the MOT is up in May. MOT history shows 3 failures (2 for brakes and 1 for a tyre) over it's life.

I'd probably look to get the asking price down based on the above, potentially £1k to 1.5k of maintenance/MOT required.

Nice example but I'm not sure £22k for a 40k ZMC is a " bargain " & i suspect those with a plus £20k budget won't be taken with the self serviced hand written notes in service book .

Agree not a 'bargain' but I'd have no problem with an enthusiast owned and maintained car, which this one seems to be.

It's cheap for the mileage, on the face of it.

But while I could live with owner servicing for an N52 engine, I just wouldn't for an S54!

And that's the problem - at some point you'll need to sell it and get into this same debate.

Still I'd give it a miss for being silver with black interior anyway!

I had silver cars for way too long. :(
Coupes because stunning!

I viewed this over the weekend,

https://www.autotrader.co.uk/car-detail ... =on&page=1

Reg YG06 RFN
Vin LD39241

I would love another M but looking at a 3.0si currently.
I wanted to see this to remind myself on the e85 as haven’t looked at one for years.
I could have been tempted but had some concerns. Very patchy service history with only 1 brake fluid changed in the book and a three plus year gap with not even an mot done.
It wasn’t in too bad condition some light scratches and lacquer peel on the wing above the headlight,
The S54 sounded amazing, of course and I loved the red leather seats. Darker than I expected and such nice leather compared to my E82 & F22.

Anyone know it?
Is there a buyers guide for the E85 M or 3.0si on here?
Thanks
Looking for an E85 3.0si sport manual for the weekends

E46 M3. Sold huge mistake

Amazing thanks @tomscott.

Are many Z4Ms on lower tax?
I think the one above was registered on 23/3/06 possibly the day the tax rules changed.
I’m sure I saw one on lower tax once.

Could be wrong, but I think any M car pre 22nd March 2006 is in the lower tax bracket (so the one you saw would have been incredibly unlucky!)
Current: Project Audi A2 1.4SE

Yes I just looked it up first day of the increase 23/3/06.
£630 pa tax and higher buy in and running costs puts me off the MR as much as I’m in love with the S54!

Same as you. I could swear I'd seen lower tax Z4M's, but if they are out there they'll be very few and far between. Mainly a benefit for E46 M3 owners.

Agreed on the tax, scandalous. However, what else is out there giving as much sheer driving engagement as an M for the money...?

Plus if you don't buy one with that pointless lump of wasted metal above your head you'll pay less for one too....
M roady...OEM CSL’s, strut brace, Remus back boxes, ZHP
MR2 MK 2
E89 35i project car...mapped 365bhp, M4 stoppers & wheels, KWV3’s, H&R front ARB, M3 front arms, strut brace Eisenmann cat back race exhaust, VRSF downpipes inbound

Saw your comment regarding owner servicing for an S54. What would be the issue with owner servicing on an S54?
I do all my own maintenance on my S54, so just curious. Will be adjusting my valves next. Looking at shim kits.

Thanks!
