Do try to keep up at the back.
What?
I thought Lynchy lives in North Yorks now and MikeyH lives in Devon, unless one has moved recently!
All good things come to those who wait. I'm really impatient which explains a lot.

F31 320i. Good car.
E89 20i Now fully dried
Z3 'free litre'. Project and a half. Complicated!
Mazda3 sold
Tatty old R56 Mini Cooper. Money pit!

Ah ok. I got it the wrong way round. I blame it either on old age or red wine

That’s the sort of price I had in mind but another smart repair guy has just emailed me a quote of £220.00?
Now, Sterling grey Z4 2.2 with cup holders, stubby aerial and sport seats. Roadsters ‘cause they’re great with the roof down.

MikeyH, you have to make it worth Lynchy's while. Try offering a holiday for a week, B&B, touring in the area, guided walks :D

I can recommend his work as he repaired my vandalised Audi some years back.
Current:
911-50 Black - unique spec
X5M - 575 hp of fun in a V8
Abarth 595 Comp.
Golf Clipper - collectors item
Z4 3.0si Black Sapphire
VW ID.3

Previous:
Z4M Silver Grey - non flimper spec (gone to Bing)
Z4 3.0 Toledo

Better than that, perhaps I could have a holiday at Lynchy's while he does the work

That’s is a pretty bad quote, get some bondo putty, a can of base coat, and a can of clear coat, and you can fix any scratches in the future as well

I’ve had a quote from a chap for £160.00 no VAT to add. Found out he did some work on my wife’s car a few years ago, still okay. He’s on holiday at the moment but I will book him in next week. Thanks to Lynchy for that, his price made me look around a bit more. Yes I could faff around and spend all weekend doing it and getting a passable job done but at that price what’s the point.

Exactly. You will never get it as good as the professionals will (hopefully), unless you invest in all the gear and practice a lot.
I am currently re-doing some bits of paint on our E89 which I did badly a couple of years ago. It's not easy getting it nice, even on a solid white car! :x

Exactly Pondrew, back in the day when every car I owned was non metallic I would, after hours of work make a reasonable job of it but the colour match was always a problem with some colours. There used to be a guy in Exeter, many years ago, that would colour match the paint and put it into a spray can, was double the price but matched really well. If I had the time I would give it a go but metallic paint is awful to get correct.

Okay so the saga goes on. The guy who quoted £160.00 seems to have packed up :headbang: so searching again, found this one, I think they’re having ‘a tin bath’. £384.00 to remove and replace the bumper but only do the corner.

Well, just chased up the guy with the £160.00 quote and he's off work for the unforeseeable future as he has damaged his arm on holiday :headbang: So, I'm going to give it a go myself, if I make a crap job of it I'll get him to tidy it up when he is back at work again. Have to wait for better weather though :D
