That was below the belt Mr McD. I did buy the Z4. I mend it, service it, wash it and even pay for the fuel. I just don't OWN it!

Time to own one then, Pondrew. All essential boxes ticked and you get the benefit of this forum as card carrying Z head.
Forget the alternatives. You’re dancing around the solution.

There's always a bus pass instead, take the strain off and meet new friends :)

   Tomatoes/Tomatoes ok, I’ll reword, you could maybe own your first Z4 🤔 straight into a 35i your limited use (cough cough) would stop some of the running cost issues.

Either that or just get into an ///M or CL/AMG of some sort and scratch that itch

I reckon a proper S54 ///M car should be on the cards for anyone looking to spend that sort of money. If you’ve never experienced it, then its a good box to tick off.

Funny you should say that....the chap I've been talking to about one of them is 77 and giving up driving. I would feel bad (a bit) about beating him down on his price.

So today I was on one of my rare excursions 'daaan sarf' to see my old mum, possibly for the last time. :(
My attention was drawn to a beautiful red XK8 'vert which I passed. It really was gorgeous looking. Then on the orbital car park I followed a black M6 (F13) coupe which rekindled my love of those too.

I also followed a 2020 RS7 which are weird looking things but the width of the rear tyres is absolutely mahoosive.

Got to stop looking at cars, it only confuses me more. :headbang:

Some of the best window shopping is done whilst behind the wheel. I went out to look at an aging Alfa 159 Shootbrake and have come back with a Merc CLS 350 AMG shootbrake. Didn’t know I needed one in my life. Turns out I do! 2013, family ownership and full dealer history. Every toy going has been thrown at it too - never had cooling and massaging seats before!?!? And always fancied a column shift for the gears. The puppies are going to be very pleased.

I had a 2013 E class a few years back (about 10 actually). Never liked the column auto shift, it seemed too American and nowhere to rest your left hand when bored! :D

Well I won't be buying an old Jag! :x
Piles of rusting shite, all of them! Went to look at a couple and, boy, how they could make cars that badly in this day-and-age must be an artform. :o
I've seen cars which had chassis corrosion mentioned on the MOT at 4 years old FFS! :(

I travelled 2 hours to look at one yesterday and had to wait around for an hour cos the battery was flat so it wouldn't start! The silly old duffer selling it didn't seem bothered in the slightest... :headbang:

Got a new plan now.....one I should have put into place last year; it would have saved me a small fortune!

I hate to admit it, but my friend PVR was right all along.

      Golf R mate. Can't beat a Golf.
Keeping the Z4, get shot of the Mazda3 and replace that with an R. Wife can use both and I can have a fun car. Makes complete sense.
Got to buy my daughter a car soon (apparently!), four cars will clutter up the place so makes even more sense; financially and practically.
