E85 Roof manual release cable hanging out

Post by Usel » Sat Mar 25, 2023 3:09 pm

Anybody know why this happened and what I should do about it?

I didn't touch it but now its hanging out after putting the roof down. I have now put the roof back up and it's still hanging out.

Bearing in mind its full travel is normally about 4mm I rather suspect it's broken off at the far end.

As it's in the boot its an easy check to see if it's still attached.
You could get a new cable of course, but as it's now accessible you could actually just remove that cable as in an emergency you could simply press the bypass plunger in by hand.
If you need a hand I'm free all day Sunday.

It's not a 'now' job that I'm worried about so I think we will have to arrange a date and I'll pop over thanks Martin

Can't do tomorrow but we'll sort something as long as it's deemed safe for me to continue putting the roof up and down?

Pretty sure its just the cable snapped. All that does is depress the bypass valve, so you're good to carry on.
If you want a new cable fitted let me know as I have one here fitted on a roof in the shed.

Comes with a whole roof so will be pricey.

Yeah we can sort that for you. Thought I'd better check in case the blue moon appears and someone asks to buy the roof.
