MHD maps

Post by Cavey1638 » Sat Mar 18, 2023 2:02 am

Ok so thinking of starting to do some mods on my car. In relation to remapping just stage one as not going mad, are MHD any good? I had a Volvo T5 with stage 3 custom MTE map a while back and wow could I embarrass the odd M series. Although I have had a few BMW I have never gone the remapping route. Which are reputable suppliers.

Thanks

Cavey

I don’t about good, but I like MHD (and xHP) in Sport+ mode.

For the N54 in the 35i I would say MHD is your best possible choice…

It’s much more than just a re-map..the guys have actually developed for the better the core logic of the ECU..

You get extremely well developed maps for stock or minor changed hardware and there are many competent tuners who can remotely tune your car if you go off piste

I have the stage 1+ on mine, quite a difference. I have only had it on a couple months but am happy so far. I would recommend changing plugs and coils also and installing a larger intercooler...

MHD Stage 1 has been running on mine for over a year. It will throw up a misfire if your plugs or coils are past their best, so do be prepared to replace them if you don't do so pre-emptively.

No physical mods needed for stage 1, but if you want to upgrade the intercooler for £400 then stage 1+ should give you a pretty useful extra bump in power and torque.

MHD seems like the simplest and best regarded option for our N54's.

Do read the instructions carefully before you do anything though! The downside of MHD is that you're loading the new map yourself, so you're on your own if you c0ck it up!

Evening all and thanks for the replies. I have just taken receipt of a Wagner EVO 1 intercooler which looks nicely made. Also ordered the WiFi adapter for MHD. In process of booking in for walnut blasting inlet manifold. Further as from Santas Grotto pic attached, new pan for DCT with filters and new sump bolts. That’s blown the budget for a while including the MHD map!

Attached electronic ignition I am also looking at.

Regards

Chris

Hello two things..

Could you measure the external diameter of the Evo 1 pipes pls..external not internal..I see they have lip moulded on the outside any ideas of height of the lip?

FWIW the Nexsys B58 coil kit seems to be the new gold standard for uprated sparks…MHD has specific provisions for it

Both the flanges are 81.28mm or in real engineering units are exactly 3.200” thou.

The recessed counter bore in the face is 1.118mm or again in real money 0.044” thou.

Great much appreciated..the new turbo outlet pipes to FMIC connector is what I’m trying to work out before the car is stripped in early April..

Trying to pre-empt what size flex connector required…

Thnx for pics too
