TPMS

Hey guys, funny one this morning. Driving along and the TPMS warning came on indicating pressure loss. Checked my tyres all fine, tried to reset to clear the warning and the option is greyed out. So, I have the red tyre warning in the centre of the dash and can’t clear it. Ok I thought. I’ll use Carly, which did t find any issues so, any ideas?
Assume there’s an issue with the TPMS system?

Your system is run flat monitor not TPMS..

Based on rolling radius of tyres…

Possibly could be due to a failing ABS reluctor ring..

As usual reading any error codes would be a good first starting point..
We choose to go to on with this endeavour at this time and do the other things, not because they are easy, but because they are hard…

Thanks B21, Carly Usually Finds all error codes but it’s found nothing, so no idea where to start. Annoying that the centre display is now taken up with a red image of a flat tyre.

For anyone interested in the solution, some
Weeks ago I set tyre pressure and tyre temperature via Carly and thought no more. Went over a pot hole and this set off the low pressure warning. The settings blocked the reset functionality as there is no temperature monitor (so why could I set it?) anyway, reverted this and it’s working now. Quite annoying really.

Yes indeed, its actually "OK" for general use to get fault codes and reset stuff, but, not at the price they charge. It was good when the initially started developing as they would help as much as they could, now, not so much..

I have both Bimmercode and Bimmerlink. Bimmercode works well for coding - clean interface, which is easy to follow, and takes backups for every change. Make sure your batteries [phone and car] are charged, of course, before you code anything. The coding itself is very quick. Bimmerlink is really just for reading values/diagnostics, but you do need it for battery coding if you change the battery type. It has a dashboard mode which is nice for live monitoring. You can access a lot of measurements.

Carly gets heavily advertised, but has an annual licence fee rather than a one-off cost, and they seem to be focusing on making money...

I have Bimmercode plus an approved BT OBD plug (alas it's not compatible with my E85), and have coded quite a few things on my F54 Mini Clubman via it. Useful bit of kit and worth the £30-odd I paid for the license.

Yes, one oddity is that you need an approved OBD plug! So the one I have for my other car doesn't work.

I went for the VeePeak BLE+ one (£40 from Amazon). Not expensive and works well for me

My car tyre monitor has gone t**s up ever since i replaced the abs.
I just ignore it now, that reset is greyed out.
Only ever gone off once about 8 years ago.
I can live without it.

Weird - I was under the impression that mine did have real TPMS :(

Did it change for later cars or is the same across the years of production?

TPMS came in April 2014 on E89s…
