I have been looking at classic cars for the last couple of months as a toy for the summer days
On my shortlist are a Triumph Stag which I have been looking at for decades and a TR3.
Since today, after visiting a classic car show, an MG RV8 is also on the list.
Never noticed them before but they look absolutely georgeous although I prefer the sound of the Stag
Does anybody have any experience with them?
Any points to look out for?

Don't think they will go down in history as a 'classic' TBH.
This sums up it's conception and ultimate low sales.

They were extremely expensive when new; not really got much of a following IMO. Stags or TR3s are classics, the RV8 is a 90s MG roadster copy.
The irony is that Rover were 'waiting' for their new super roadster; the MGF. Look how popular they are now.

All good things come to those who wait. I'm really impatient which explains a lot.

Thanks for the link
Interesting history.
I have given it a good thought but decided to go for a real classic. Just do not know which as the choice is also limited by my height of 1.92m.
The TR3 is one of the few cars that fit

These are pretty rare and saw a BRG one on the M4 last month, looked nice but not certain I would take one over a Stag or TR3 or even a TR7 these days

I did look at them before I bought the TR6 but just could not get past the fact it’s was a relaunch of a Classic shape with a V8. They sound good but handling is not so good as it sits high. Most are Jap imports that’s where most of them went back in the day. It will end a Classic due to numbers made. All in all a safe if not exciting choice.
PS looks good in the Oxford Blue rarer colour so much nicer then the Woodcote Green which was the colour for Japan

In one word - don't. A friend of mine who was an MG specialist used to look after one and he didn't have anything positive to say about that particular model.

Thanks for the feedback
I have abandoned the idea of an RV8. There a very few real positive reviews on them (contrary to the Stag)
I have decided to stick to old motorbikes and bought a sidecar for my pre war Harley
