Best Aftermarket Warranty
Wanted to get aftermarket warranty Info. I'm proud new owner of a 2012 Z4 35i with 32k and wanna make sure I get some protection against costly repairs. Can anyone share their opinion based on experiences please??

I use the bmw one. Recently had the adaptive front suspension replaced on my 35is. Well worth the peace of mind i believe. Whilst there might be other options, i think the bmw one is the most reliable.

I also have the BMW extended warranty and have already made 1 claim with no questions asked and the cost is cheap in my view. £450 or £630 depending on excess . I have a Warranty Direct warranty on a 2015 Range Rover Sport and I have had around £5K in claims over last year with no quibbles but on a big one (£3k) they did scrutinies the service history…..

What year sport? I’ve had mine for 6 trouble free years and had the warranty for the last 2. The £3K bill was for a new turbo and vacuum pump as the turbo was leaking oil. No oil on floor and no power loss etc but it got brought to my attention on the last service. I told them to contact the warranty company and 24hrs later it was approved. The warranty isn’t cheap by the way, £950 a year but at least it’s a warranty company that actually pays out so worth every penny for me. Also just had the renewal through last week and was expecting a large increase but it’s only gone up around £200 to £1150 so I’m tempted to renew again. So I can recommend Warranty Direct if BMW won’t offer a warranty for your car BobbyZ

Really? Wonder why? When I was speaking to my garage where I take my RRS they told me they have a good claim success rate with Warranty Direct and Warranty Wise with other customers but never had a claim approved with Motor Easy so I would probably avoid this one

The Warranty Direct company are taking new customers. Just done a quote as a new customer for my Z4. Not cheap though……..

I’m surprised you could get a warranty on a 12yr old car, even at £1800, more often the limit is 10yrs and you need continuity of cover. Of course they are only insuring up to the trade value of the car and that can be quite low on an older car, at present values are very low.

just got a 2011 and its done 120k. I'd have loved the newer one but it was just too expensive for me with keeping the 35is as well. You see so many horror stories on the web with with broken engines just being scrapped. Had the cambelt changed and now spending this weekend doing the transmission, differential and gearbox oils. Generally its in very nice condition but you really cant tell when these other things will happen! Fingers crossed!

I had a 2012 RRS before my current one. Again had that for 2 rouble free years. Yeah there are horror stories out there about the cam shaft snapping and that was one of the reasons for me getting the warranty but when you go on the forums and read what all the experts say in most cases the engines that failed had very low oil in them. I religiously check my oil once a week at least to make sure all ok. There are garages on EBay and the like fitting recon engines now for around £3K. Much better than the £20k Land Rover will charge you and will only give you a 1 year warranty on it…..

Don’t just knock LR, BMW dealers are just as expensive £200 an hour is the current main dealer labour cost + VAT of course sir. Indies are better but still not cheap, any major breakdown or even minor accident can result in a write off, even a front wing and headlight with paint.
So we all need to be careful with maintenence and avoid damaging bodywork.
