New here in my 2009 e89 35i

Hello.

A few days in to ownership of my 2009 e89.

It's a weekend/pleasure car for me and fills a gap previously occupied by:
  • Audi TTS - great car, didn't love it
  • MX5 mk3 - great car, loved it
  • Boxster 987s - great car, absolutely loved it
  • MX5 mk2 - great car, loved it
  • Honda S2000 - great car, absolutely loved it

SE suspension
I could Google it (will later) but to help feed the Google - what's the SE suspension?
It is a very nice ride.
Originally was thinking of upping the wheel size but the aesthetic has grown on me actually - and I like the ride quality which no doubt would suffer a little with the bigger wheels.

I'm confused by the generally bad rep the 19" wheels get for being a worse drive. I've had 19's on my old 2.5 and on my current 3.5is (although with adaptive suspension), and have never felt it to be harsh or hard. The only downside (which is valid) is their potential to crack...

Oh and welcome to the fold. Quite a difference from the S2000 (of which I've also had two - really loved them but a bit plasticky inside)

The country roads round here are very poor (potholes and broken/uneven surfaces, with narrow and perhaps sharp edges). They're a lot of fun to drive, but do I find the 19s with runflats to be very hard, especially compared with my estate car :). Mine has the MSport suspension as well.

On a motorway or smooth main road they're fine, but the car is made to live on the twisty ones with nice ups and downs that are barely wide enough to go down :)

There were two specs; SE and M-sport.
The SE spec (which it looks like yours is from the front bumper) have softer springs and a slightly higher ride height. The M-sport, especially with bigger wheels, 'looks' the part but add run-flats into the mix and they are as hard as a hard thing with extra hardness IMHO. I know cos I've got all three of the above and have my dentist and chiropractor on speed dial! :o

Did @pondrew mention that there was an even harder "Sport/Sport+" mode that you could enable via a button if the 19" runflats on firmer springs aren't enough for you? :)

Welcome to the forum
Nice car , will look even more fantastic when the sun shows up . Hope you come to love the e89 as you have some of the others on your list . What area are you?

I'm in SE London and occasionally Hastings.
I already absolutely love this car :)

No plans for mods but will at some point replace the worn roof operation buttons (already found a great 'how to' on here).

I was going to change the indicators for the 'lci'(?) version after seeing both while looking for those car - but kinda like what is there for now.
I've no doubt I'll consider a remap later into my ownership - but then never do it :)
