Autodoc & customs

Post by smorris_12 » Mon Feb 27, 2023 11:23 am

Generally for parts I've always found eBay to be sharp on price with someone having a brand I'll happily buy but yesterday I was struggling to locate a decent EGR for a friend's Ford Transit and ended up at Autodoc's doorstep. Ordered it and hope it'll turn up before the end of time.

Now, I'm also in the market for an N52 water pump[1] and I can get it from them for £220[2] but I'm struggling to find to find a definitive answer on whether I'll get stung at customs as it's over the £130-odd limit. So, anyone ordered anything expensive from Autodoc lately?

[1] Surprise. It's throwing comms errors at regular intervals

[2] £10 voucher code AC75002730 if anyone's playing along at home

You should be fine with ordering from Autodoc and won’t pay any import tax, or at least I didn’t and I know others haven’t either.

Nothing extra to pay with Autodoc. Price on the website is price you pay (plus any delivery). Their delivery times have been a lot better recently IME. Less than a week from order to delivery last two times for me.

Cheers chaps. I've got Google blindness from trawling through messages where people did (mostly in 2021) but I'm sure I saw one from this year so I was a little paranoid that people have only been buying small things.

Buying t'pump is another job for today then; price looks to be as good as it gets - 41% off, although the end price is exactly the same as it was last night at 30% off as they've upped the un-discounted price. OTOH, I would have got another £15 off the Transit EGR valve if I'd waited.

Worth paying the £3.95 'safe order' option for no-quibble, postage-paid returns. You'll have problems returning for any reason unless you pay it.

Don't like that TBH. Paying extra to be able to return goods easily is wrong in my opinion.
