I feel 5 litres of 95 octane and a box of Swan Vestas coming on…
We choose to go to on with this endeavour at this time and do the other things, not because they are easy, but because they are hard…
A very modified Atacama Yellow 35is

So BMW had to reorder in the brake switch, as they return after 7 days if not collected.

2nd ABS as arrived, so will first try swapping the electronics module over.
Hopefully being off another 23i it might not need coding.

If all works fine will cancel switch save £40.
I think the non start was my covid addled brain pushing on brake pedal instead of clutch :?

Inside 2nd hand ABS.
Electrics in separate module held by 4 screws.
Try module first save disturbing the hyd. lines.

What happens after you've sorted the problem?
(You have certainly demonstrated your perseverance so far )

Are you going to give it another chance or is it going to be changed?

So I bought a 35is with all the toys to play with.

So fitted the 2nd hand ABS electrics.
Remove the air box and intake you can get at the abs electrics if you unbolt it and lift of the rear studs in the rubber mounts.

Needed to reset steering and dsc through the Foxwell reader, all seemed OK.
Ride around the block no warning, but just as i parked up, abs warning came up and red park brake symbol flickering again.
So later restart, all warnings cancel.
Same spot on way home abs warning up again and brake symbol flicker on application.

So next on Monday go collect the genuine BMW brake light switch and fit.

I even have two new front wheel sensors.

This car driving me nuts :headbang:

So 9 minutes into journey this morning approaching the same traffic lights as previously, bong, abs fail.
Can't be time based as earlier on drive temporary road works which might delay the journey, yet bongs in same place.
Also approaching same lights from other direction on way home, which again is about 9 minutes from departure.

In either direction there is a very slight down slope to a stop.
So on a quiet stretch i turn ign. off then back on, fault cancels.

Last night i re-fueled car and coasted down a long hill, sure enough at the bottom, bong abs fail as i touched the brakes for a turn into side road.
Only other explanation is heat, something warms up and then first touch of brakes, bong.

Something else in obd it seems to think there is only 3% brake fluid so reset that to full.
But how does it measure, i thought fluid level sensor was just a switch.

So, success :D

Sort of :(

ABS problem has now gone, drove home no ABS warning. So perhaps the pressure sensor was the problem?

But couldn't get rid of "FTM error" on the bottom of iDrive. But no faults shown on fault page.

Now the red warning on dash that shows parking ebrake on vanished. Previously it would flicker like a broken wire somewhere.
Still tempted to collect the genuine brake light switch and fit.

Only code that won't go is Emf voltage low and another dsc associated with the emf brake.
Everything works fine, so for now will just ignore it.

That’s a result 👍
Have you tried removing the battery to do a “soft reset” if that’s the right term, other than that enjoy being able to get out and about in it.
