Yep definitely worth doing that if it’s not been doing already. Should have mentioned in my original post I’ve already installed a new expansion tank.

Mine started leaking a week after I got the car, something I’d planned to do as preventative maintenance - but I was a little too slow to prevent anything!

What make did you use and can you remember the part number please?
White e89 Red leather interior (But that's the wife's and don't I know it :/ )
Montego Blue Coupe manual si sport 💙 (Faster than the above....much faster :)

Thought about going for an aftermarket OEM from the usual reputable brands, but heard mixed things so ended up spending a bit more and going with the BMW tank, seeing as the original one made it 14 years! Managed to buy it from the Vertu Motors eBay store when it was on offer over Black Friday.

Just checked and looks like they’re selling it for £78.64 if you use the code APPLY15, which is a pretty decent price for the genuine BMW part (usually £90+)

If you are changing the electric water pump on the N52 engine there is a special bleeding procedure, it is an electronic sequence for running the pump without the engine running.
If you search this forum you will find it, it took me about 10 mins and worked first time.
