Recaro Pole positions

Post by sjh00u82 » Wed Feb 01, 2023 9:51 pm

Who has tried fitting pole positions to their coupe? I have one spare so I was thinking of fitting it as part of my new track project however I’ve read they foul the door cards without some faffing.

I was thinking of buying some macht schnell mounts (other suggestions welcome) but I wanted to know if I was on a hiding to nothing.

I could always sell the Recaro and try something like a cobra nogaro as apparently they fit.

Thanks

Thanks. Looks like they rub unless you bring the seats quite far forward.

If the seat was an inch higher then the ears would miss the top of the door…but whilst there is a depression from it, there hasn’t been any actual rubbing or damage.

I don’t know if it’s feasible to heat up that part of the seat to allow it to bend in a little…don’t want to take the risk…and I don’t know anything other than the Tilletts that will definitely fit with zero contact with some part or another of the trans tunnel or door.

amazing seats, infact their was a pair for sale recently retrimmed and they looked insanely good!

i went the tillet route which has got to be one of my fave changes ive made to any vehicle. They fit like a glove and VERY low with such an amazing recline to the seat that put you in the perfect position. two things that come to mind with the change, it was extremely expensive, and then the steering wheel feels like a slight stretch away due to the reclined position. ive since added a deep dish momo mod 7 steering wheel with a QR hub which combined with the seats has taken the driving experience to another level but their was a fair share of unexpected costs.

Lastly the z4 cabin is extremely tight and really need lots of thought on a seat setup! GL op.

As I have a pole position on the shelf I will give that a try but otherwise, Cobra Suzuka or Nogaro look to be the best route.

What subframes are people using. Anyone tried the planted technology subframes or is everyone Macht schnell style mounts?

Mine use the Recaro side mounts, Recaro sliders (if you don't need the sliders then you can save a bit of weight/height) and Macht Schnell floor mounts. As a daily driver the sliders were essential as I wanted the seat a bit further back when commuting, and a bit closer to the wheel when on track.

Thanks. What have you fitted the three-point belt to? Did you get one of the adapters?

They’re Macht Schnell hybrid seat-belt brackets I bought along with my Macht Schnell floor mounts (as an optional purchase).

https://machtschnell.com/bolt-harness-r ... ounts.html

The hybrid ones allow the 3-point and harnesses to be affixed at the same time, so you don’t have to swap them around…but you could save some cash and go for the simpler single variant.
