I have been having trouble with my convertible top.
Last night I finally got the manual release to work. I left the windows down overnight and now the buttons to unlock the roof are doing nothing.
I’ve checked the fuses. It doesn’t light up from reseating fuse 12 while the ignition is in position 2 but It does when reseating fuse 31.
The parcel trey is in the correct position but when it’s up and I press the button I don’t get the orange light like normal
I can’t figure out what I’m doing wrong

Hello and welcome to the forum.
I think the two fuses you've checked are the standard ones?
Above them is a big fat orange 40A one.
I cannot remember the number off the top of my head.

I had a very similar problem a long while back. In my case nothing would happen with the engine running, but if I turned it off the roof would work fine. This was intermittent but gradually got worse.
Looking at various diagrams it seemed everything ran through the control module.
I replaced that and it all worked fine.

Idle point. With the hardtop on the button doesn't light up if pressed. I'm not sure how the module detects that the hardtop is in place but it's possible it could thinks there's one on there. I suspect it uses the connections to the rear screen heater.

Just checked the wiring diagram and yes the connections feed back to the control module.
Lift the rubber L-shaped caps off the hard top mounting points either side and check the connections underneath.
I actually have a pair of these in the garage somewhere if needed.

Just actually fired up the WDS and found:
I reckon there's something conductive down the hole, fouling it.
And:Hardtop locating points
Contact plates are fitted in each of the two hardtop locating points at the main convertible top bearings. Each contact plate has a contact for power supply of the rear window heating and a contact for hardtop detection.
So if this line is grounded due to muck or a damaged wire, the switch will appear dead. And, after a bit more reading, it's the UK passenger side locating pin that acts as the switch signal. When the hardtop is in place the locating pin shorts the V_SPERR signal line to ground as well as providing the ground connection for the rear screen. If a hardtop is fitted, a contact that closes to earth generates the signal ”V_SPERR” which blocks the ”Close” function.
I reckon there's something conductive down the hole, fouling it.
