CIC Sat Nav Unit

Hi Guys

I think my unit has sort of given up the ghost or certainly on its way out. The sound from any source is woefully bad, even my wife’s old Nissan micra from the early 00 sounds better. Sounds like a complete “layer” is missing if that makes sense.

Had a spare amp and have changed that and reset all the controls to default but no difference. So if someone lives close to me on this forum (Bedford or surrounding area) I’d love to listen to yours and compare.

If as I suspect it’s broken, does anyone have part numbers of a replacement. See many on eBay but pretty sure ours is a bit different in fittings.

Any help from anyone would be appreciated otherwise I feel for my sanity I’ll be driving the wife’s micra this summer !!!!!

All E89 iDrive headunits are the same except for the ones that have DAB built in (they can be noted by the additional green and mustard sockets next to the black radio antenna socket).
There are units with an additional socket on the upper right (rear view) but this socket was never used on any BMW.
A replacement headunit would need to be coded to the car properly otherwise you're not going to be able to use sat-nav or voice activation.

EDIT** I've attached some photos for clarity

Well not quite, I missed something out there (I'll edit in a moment), my first line there should read "All E89 iDrive headunits....." as ONLY headunits for the E89 will fit and E89. Don't be enticed by any seller stating that it's an E90, E91, E92, E93, E89.... headunit as it isn't. They'll fit and work (to a point) but the protruding neck will be too short for the E89.

I've attached a couple of photos. Short neck is for the E9x and the longer neck is the E89
