Z4m engine mounts

I’ve had the race version of the VT engine mounts for about 9 years and 40k miles. My car has spent a great deal of time on track in ambient temperatures up to 35C and it is always driven in a spirited fashion for at least a part of every journey. They have yet to fall apart!
The only detectable change in NVH is at idle where there is a barely perceptible hum through the seat and the interior mirror vibrates enough to slightly blur images. Someone unfamiliar with the car would be unlikely to notice.
That said, having read the above, at some point soon I will check if the rubber is cracking.

I barely notice mine at all..... are people Tqing these down too much on install? ill be checking mine over today and as mentioned will report back.

UPDATE ; work finished at 12pm today so headed back to the car with my makeshift inspection mirrors ( wifeys makeup mirror taped to a long strip of plastic lol!) inspected these both thoroughly, Zero cracking on mine at all. Still remains one of the best mods i believe you can make to this era of bmw. I notice very little in the way of additional NVH too, their is some but nothing at all alarming and very in keeping with my build. I can still see the competition spec manufacturing DOT ( orange in my case, blue for the road versions ). Maybe climate has something to do with degrading rates also us spec car have cats in the headers, this would give off significantly more heat. I believe the issues are likely related to incorrecting fitting tq specs or extreme heat build up ( mine has a heat guard on the drivers side ). interesting to note the failed mounts pictured in this thread the rubber almost looks very squashed out the main block piece where as mine are only pretty much flat (with a slight dome) with the top round metal disc.

Thanks for the update, possibly down to torque specs and as you noted us market has cats on the headers, I’m looking to go for a street set up I think but it’s good to hear yours have lasted and are in good shape

Reviving this thread with a little update, I ended up fitting the street version 360m engine mounts to my vehicle last August and am now in the process of stripping the suspension for other work, on removing the front subframe the exhaust side engine mount is noticeably shorter than the intake side mount and they have only been on the car for 8 months and around 1k miles, nothing wrong with the performance as stated they reduce engine movement significantly and made the gear shift crisp too but I’m concerned how much that side has collapsed to the point that when I reinstall them I’m swapping the 2 round.

I know it’s a heavy lump of an engine on a slant to the exhaust side and I’m hoping that is just the mounts settling.

Before anyone comments everything was torqued to specs as recommended at the time of install as I do the work myself so am very careful and double check everything as I go

Yes the heat shield was exactly as it came out on top of the exhaust side mount although I don’t think it makes much difference on eu car as in the us due to our headers not having big catalyst on them so they are further from the mount

Put vibratechnics on mine and the gear change felt so much better. Didn't notice anymore vibration at idle
