To play devils advocate, you could argue there’s a £2000 paint job required.
A £2000 paint job? That wouldn't be any better than what he has now. A car like that needs a decent paint job.
I’m not a paint expert, it was just a guess as to making it or getting it to an acceptable level? I suspect a “decent” paint job is 4,5,6k?
Full respray done properly (ie glass out etc), starts from £5,000.
Highly doubt this car will need that though (unless it is to be stored as a garage queen).
As previously mentioned, respraying the front bumper and a good mop should suffice.
Let’s also not forget that when respraying a car things can go wrong (resulting in back and forth with the bodyshop which can be quite cumbersome). Also that respray paint will not last as long as factory paint (more often than not it is softer, which means stonechips come back quicker!)
I’ve seen many cars that have been repainted, and can count on my hands how many have been done to a standard that is as good as or ‘better’ than factory paint.
It’s a personal thing for me but I would only repaint a car if it was really bad (ie rusting) and could be garaged thereafter. Repainting a car which will be parked on the drive makes no sense whatsoever.
As mentioned by others this looks like a useable example. Not one to be repainted and stored as a garage queen.
Collecting Cars with a reserve (as mentioned) is probably the best way to go on this.
