Anyone know what this is?
Guys,
I accidentally knocked the trim above the passenger side seat belt off. I found a cable under it which seemed to end right there. Does anyone know whats its for? Photo attached.

Looks like a temperature sensor to me.
Give it till tomorrow and B21 will google it for you (past his bedtime now) then post an exploded diagram which he copied and pasted.

All good things come to those who wait. I'm really impatient which explains a lot.

I did think temp sensor at first, but seems like a really weird place for it? Ill have to check it more closely in daylight, but it may just be a crimp to end the cable but then im confused as to why it would terminate there in that location.

Maybe BMW was thinking of putting courtesy lights in the B pillar covers at some point then didn't.
RealOEM shows a wire right in that spot.

If that is the case it's got to be worth rigging it up to a bulb just to see. You may have hit on a cheap improvement.grannyknot wrote: ↑Wed Jan 25, 2023 2:59 pm Maybe BMW was thinking of putting courtesy lights in the B pillar covers at some point then didn't.

Aerial for the unlocking remote?
Erm, dare we ask how you accidentally knocked the trim off?

thanks, does seem right. Dont think id ever thought about what that might look like before.
The trim only fell off cos a bottle of massage oils exploded close to it...but apart from that, nothing dodgy was going on.

When I got the Maser the trim for the seatbelt reel was loose, and there was a rattle in the binnacle. I refitted the seatbelt cover, thinking "HTF did that get hit up there?" and set to on the binnacle, which had 4 allen screws underneath.eaytvr2019 wrote: ↑Thu Jan 26, 2023 5:12 pm The trim only fell off cos a bottle of massage oils exploded close to it...but apart from that, nothing dodgy was going on.
In the end I slid the seat back, reclined it fully, and slid myself upside down so my head was underneath the binnacle, where I found a loose bolt from when they replaced the carbon paddles before I bought it. I then promply kicked the trim off the seatbelt reel trying to get back out.
