Another Roof Question

Post by wanderer » Sun Jan 15, 2023 4:44 pm

I have not had the codes read as yet.

However, when I try to put the roof down I get the roof light warning on the dash and the ding sound
The roof button also starts flashing, and continues to do so for a few minutes even after locking the car.

I put down the trunk cover as that is something I forget to check but it made no difference.

Relays were changed last year.
No moisture in pump/battery bay.

Roof hasn't been lowered in a few months due to winter.

Any ideas?

A bit of damp in the old micro switches on the rams I would suspect…

I know they are supposed to be sealed but…

I had it quite a lot and since the car has been garaged they’ve not come back..a combination of lack of use and damp seemed to cause the issue in spades..use and dry days and no issues..

I have two sets of the switches and about 6 different fasteners ready to go..every time I threaten to change them the roof behaves impeccably…

I know Gruppenführer Robbie will have his views on the matter
We choose to go to on with this endeavour at this time and do the other things, not because they are easy, but because they are hard..

Regarding the age of the car I'd expect broken wires in the roof shell in the upper not visible area.

Example:

I would reach back over your right shoulder in the right seat.
You can see exposed wires in the roof, try jiggling those.
Breaks i have had wires break in that area.
If wires reconnect, the bong will stop.
Will come and go if you waggle the wires.
This picture with cabin roof trim removed.
