sticking badges back on...

Post by Russ Z4 » Sun Jan 01, 2023 7:41 pm

Im currently in the middle of a detailing job and am looking to take off the badges and then reapply the same badges after correcting all the paint.

Normally, I would be attaching new badges but in this case, I need to apply the original badges. Can anybody recommend any decent sticky stuff to reapply badges?

Thanks!

I had good success with 3M VHB GPH110GF. Just make sure surface is clean and, if possible, use primer prior to application.
Sorry for my engrish

I have used this many times on my cars. Excellent stuff.
It does not seem very 'sticky' at first (which can be good thing as you can re-position stuff), but give it 24 hours to 'cure' and it sticks like shite to an army blanket. Also weatherproof.

I use a tiny dab of 'T-cut' to clean surfaces; works as well as alcohol-based cleaners but most people have some lying around!
It's great for getting rid of adhesive residue on paintwork.
All good things come to those who wait. I'm really impatient which explains a lot.

I just bought the oem tape from BMW. Was surprisingly cheap and was obviously the correct shape for everything.

Pre-cut Pondy, no scissor actions required. For that perfect oem finish :P

Can tell you're a computer geek. No-one cuts tape with scissors. There's a man called Stanley for such things. :P :poke:

Why spend Stanley labour on it if you can get the finished product for £1. Do move with the times Pondy :poke:

I’m using masking tape around the badges before removal.

No best guesses!

Should I 3D print them? I've heard it only take about 3 weeks and £4k.

I like your review (copied below), but Maybe you need a thermometer for the garage as an accurate temperature would be helpful and you mentioned being cold when ‘Waxing’ Daniel-San. Also, this could come in handy if you buy a Scimitar GTE, do they sell it in bulk?
