Newbie .... to an E89

Post by johnsi02 » Sat Dec 17, 2022 6:08 pm

Hi,
Not quite a newbie ..... I'be been around these parts for a while.
But I've gone all grown up and swapped my old four pot E85 for a lovely E89 30i sDrive.
I had great fun with the old car but I saw this E89 and I just thought it was a cracker.
It's a 2011 in red with Ivory White interior. Just 37,000 miles from new with a full service history. I can't believe how different the E89 is to its older sibling. I can understand why people love the rawness of the E85/86 but the E89 is a different beast all together. I have to say I'm a bit smitten.
Not completely sure about the black wheels. Interested to hear what you think of them.
I know the photo rule, so here goes:

The car looks great..lovely combo of trim and exterior colours…for me those wheels in black don’t do it for me with the body colour..but as we keep saying..each to their own….

Enjoy the car
We choose to go to on with this endeavour at this time and do the other things, not because they are easy, but because they are hard..

Looks great. Not too sure about the wheels. Needs some 326s on it as they do look great on the E89 ( but I am biased)
BMW E89 3.5i M Sport manual, loving it….
Audi S5 Cab, Great car but not special enough….
BMW E89 3.5i DCT, Havana Brown, should never have sold it…..
BMW E85 3.0 Auto, sadly missed (twice)

Hi and welcome to the e89 club. That’s a lovely looking car you’ve bought and I have to say I do love gloss black wheels on a shiny red car so it’s a  from me.

That's a lovely colour combination.

But I'd agree the black wheels don't really work too well.

Hello and welcome to the e89 - great car and love the colour combo as with the majority, black wheels just don't look right

Hmmmmm …… looks like the group view is that a trip to the wheel refurb facility is required
I was trying to convince myself that they look cool. But I’m not at all sure either. Might try ti see if they grow on me for a while.
Thanks for all the replies.

She certainly looks a beauty, congratulations on the “upgrade”
I’m not normally a fan of black wheels but I don’t think they look bad, although silver 326’s would look better :D

Hi and welcome back with one of the most beautiful looking cars of modern times IMHO.
Love the Melbourne Red; it's a great colour (or is it Crimson?). The interior looks really 'classy' with the white extended leather and the subtle wood trim.

I think the wheels look OK. Only problem for me is that the 325M was always silver, so the wheels have obviously been painted.

All good things come to those who wait. I'm really impatient which explains a lot.

F31 320i. Good car.

Nice looking car but I'm with the no camp on the black wheels / red car question.

Congratulations on your new Z, what's important is that are you happy with the wheel colour. Wrong time of year to change the colour anyway, wait until the salts gone
