Roof, sorry another one

Post by Jey » Tue Dec 06, 2022 2:47 pm

Changed the left (drivers side) micro switch today, per the error showing in Carly (690) which then disappeared although the light still flashed. All good, video really helped and its now fitted / soldered up.

Put the roof down to test, no flashing light - all good I thought. Drove up the road fro a test and two minutes later it started flashing again, no issues reported in Carly either.

So, currently I'm assuming it's the other side - however, Ive some question.

1 Is there anything i could have done wrong that would result in the light still flashing?
2 or, are there any other causes for this?
3 Could the mechanism be slightly out of position resulting in the switch not connecting properly?

Pretty certain the mechanism is put back as it was, marked the position. Solder job is spot on, and sleeved. Switch is in place, screws are new and used loctite. Just don't want to do the other side and it still flashes... Annoying Carly indicated it was the drives side (690)

Deflated - although the video was a great help and the job was easy enough...

doubt you did anything wrong. You should have just replaced both sides.

Will replace the other one at the weekend. This is the original error message from Carly
Convertible Roof
Fault code: 00A690
Fault code: 00A69E
Hall sensor VSW4.2 / @@ / Hall sensor VSW5.1 / Hall sensor placed VSW2.2 main column / Rotary encoder main column / Hall sensor VSW4.1

These were logged when I bought it. Cleared down and only the 690 error came back.
Thought that was the drivers side I replaced today.

Now no error messages, but the red light still flashes.

Will replace the other micro switch at the weekend.

Thanks

00A690 Microswitch, rear-end module closed, left
00A69E Speed in soft top intermediate position higher than permitted

All known codes can be found here as well:
https://www.staiger-neuffen.de/cabrio-d ... y-service/

The last one just says you were driven with the roof unlocked. Not your fault. :D
In addition, hallsensor issues in most cases don't throw a fault code.

So, to close this off…
Second micro switch changed tonight, road test successful, no more bong of doom.

Loving this model, headlight aim sensor, brakes, discs, full service and I’ll be done. Then driving it over to Spain where it will see out it’s days. It was built for the sun 🌞
