Factory Alarm Questions... Looking for info

Post by IAmOrion » Wed Dec 07, 2022 10:37 pm

I'm trying to figure out some stuff to do with the Factory Alarm. I read in the Owners Manual that the Alarm can be armed and disarmed via the Drivers side door lock - does anyones work like that? For me it just locks and unlocks the door but does nothing with the alarm. If the alarm is set for example, and I unlock the car via drivers side door lock, and open the door, the alarm goes off, so it obv does not disarm the system.

Does anyone know what get's triggered when arming and disarming via the remote?

Long story short, I'm trying to fathom out some aftermarket stuff and I need to be able to Arm and Disarm the alarm as well as lock and unlock the doors. Now, I know the Door Lock pins on the GM5 Module, but I can't figure out how to go about arming and disarming. It looks like it's potentially a single wire on the GM5 - Pin 20 White/Black according to this http://www.commandocaralarms.com/wiring ... 4/304.html which according to the pin out for the middle plug on the GM5 is the driver side unlock signal.

What I need to be able to do is it LOCK & ARM the alarm via my own module and also UNLOCK & DISARM. Effectively replacing the Standard Key Remote with a different remote system.

If I lock the door with the key then the alarm doesn’t set. If I lock the car with the button the unlock it with the key the alarm goes off if I open the door.

Mine works just like the owners manual states. If I lock with the key in the door or with the key fob the alarm arms. If I unlock it with the key in the door or with the key fob the alarm disarms.

Interesting. I wonder if it’s something that should/could be coded.

What year is yours? (Both of you)

Mine is October 2004.

Different markets though US cars may well work differently to UK cars.

Ah, mine is June 2003 UK spec. Mine does not function like bumpyz4’s appears to function so no telling if it’s a market thing, an age thing, or a model specific thing or even a coded thing

Thanks - Neil did respond to my PM and sent me the google drive link too :)
He also mentioned checking Carly website

I found this on Carly site which is interesting.....
Arm/Disarm Anti-Theft Alarm System
• With locks and remote
• Only with remote
Anti-theft alarm system is armed/disarmed by locking/unlocking the car (1) with the locks and the remote or (2) only by locking/unlocking the car with the remote. (codable in GM5)
Specifically the bit about "With locks and remote" I Will be checking this tomorrow!

Just to update this with a definitive answer - IT *IS* Codeable via Carly.

There is an option under GM5 to Arm/Disarm the alarm via 1) Unlock/Lock [Drivers side Lock] + Remote or 2) Remote Only.

This is now resolved. Thanks all
