Oem head unit for 2004/05, that will control CD multiichange

Post by Madcatgrafix » Tue Dec 06, 2022 9:43 pm

Hi,
I'm pulling out the pioneer flip screen CD / dvd player out, as its way too showy for my tastes, and want to go back to oem. Now my car has the oem multi change, behind the seats, so not sure which headunit I need, as I want it to control the multi change. I don't mind, if its grey pre 2005, or black 2005 on.

Must be willing to post to BT42 (northern ireland).

Thanks,
Mike.

I guessing you don't have the flip up screen?

think he means the OEM flip up screen with satnav, in the top of the dash.
If you've just got the normal unit below the air vents, then I think any standard Business CD system will work fine. Presumably the CD changer connections were not removed when the Pioneer was fitted...

The head unit will recognise the changer once connected, and add it to the source list in Mode

Madcatgrafix, if it is indeed a standard unit then I was going to refer you to bigwinn, but it seems you're already talking to him.

A OK. No, my car has no oem sat nav, but when I saw people selling the oem CD player unit, I didn't think it could also drive an external oem multichange, as well. But cheers sideways! will pull out the pioneer tmor, and see what wires are still there.

OK, just an update, after checking the wiring after the aftermarket CD player was pulled out, I'm looking for either of the following combinations:

1. Original as unworn as possible grey business CD player. Must come with the wiring plugs that go into back of CD player, and have the corresponding black iso plugs at the other end (1 has 8 prongs for speakers, and other has 5 prongs for power, earth etc), as that's what's still in my car. Previous owner has given away original business unit, along with its plug / front bit of wiring.

2. A good as possible black face-lift business CD player (must again, have the plug / wiring with it), and the black twin vent, to match.

Strongly prefer if both CD player screw tabs are unbroken, to stop any rattles,

Will also need posted to Northern Ireland.

Once I get sorted, I will have a pioneer android 7" flip screen single din, cd/dvd/mp4 player, with silver mounting fascia for sale!

I put a Pioneer flip screen in my 2003 and it's great. Couldn't live without it!

The business CD just pulled out, I can't remember what happened to the harness other than plugging a conversion one in. Not sure I removed anything to do with the multi changer. What happened to your original gubbins?

Your pioneer will have wiring that plugs into it, and the other end of the wiring, there will have been 2 iso plugs, which would plug directly to the iso plugs on the z4 loom. You would had to disconnect the oem player wiring, from the iso plugs on the z4 loom, to fit the pioneer in its place. It's weird, as every person selling the oem player, has thrown away the oem player mini loom.
