Vacuum Pump N52 3.0si

Post by orca48 » Mon Dec 05, 2022 10:45 pm

Hello

Got a terrible oil leak from my Z4 3.0si coupe, looks like the vacuum pump needs to be changed, can anybody recommend a decent garage that replace it at a decent price

Anybody know how long this job would take and a recommendation of a garage in the Bedfordshire/Hertfordshire area.

Understand you need a tool to lock off the timing chain, only BMW have it, just hoping a BMW specialist has the specialist tool

Cheer guys

I found several tales of woe from people DIYing this, for whom it went wrong. Trying to rotate the engine with plugs in, via the chain, using the pump shaft was one disastrous step. I hope I never have to do this, but I'm watching your thread to see what advice is offered.

Here is a link that has some good information: https://www.e90post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1072707

It's a DIY, but one done carefully by someone with some skill.
