We choose to go to on with this endeavour at this time and do the other things, not because they are easy, but because they are hard…

Pretty sure they are 296M. Nearly as prone to crack as the famous 326Ms.
All good things come to those who wait. I'm really impatient which explains a lot.

Problem was that I used old winter air. I just looked and it was 6 months past expiration. As it gets stale it loses its springyness... which in combination with Pirelli wheelbreakers, almost is an expected result. Don't risk it.. ALWAYS purchase fresh winter air annually.

Yes... 296 -- They are striking in appearance and expensive to replace. My local BMW Stealer wanted $927 USD for a replacement. I purchased one from ECS Tuning for around $520. I'm looking for a local refurbishing company that may want the wheel. It's probably only worth $30 as scrap aluminium.

Took some work to get it clean enough for my wife to allow it on the kitchen counter for pictures.

Its a quick fix, drop it down to a local engineering shop, they will nip round the back, weld it up and back in a few hours. Had mine done, weld is stronger than original cast.... No need to repaint inside edge

The problem with welded repairs is that the surrounding metal becomes more brittle due to the heat of the welding, it’s common for future cracks to appear adjacent to the weld (don’t ask me how i know this)
