Post by TOMGREEN413 » Tue Nov 22, 2022 11:43 pm

A question from a Newby.....why are some Z4 coupes I'm looking at having either a black or silver plastic engine trim cover? Was this a spec option. Apologies if this questions been done to death..... :tumbleweed:

The black engine cover is fitted to the later n52k which had some improvements over the earlier version, they both make the same power though

Engine Covers black or silver???

The earlier ones have the N52 engine with the silver cover.

I think the change happened in about September 2006 when BMW started fitting the N52k with the black top.

I've had one of each and there was no difference in how they drove.

But if you have some time to spare here you go:- viewtopic.php?t=105709

As above I have driven both and could not tell a difference.

For me I would buy the car on its overall condition ๐Ÿ‘

Thank you all for taking the time to reply and explain, really appreciated. I've still got a lot to know about these epic cars before making a purchase.

I just found this link to a more detailed description of the actual differences between the N52 and the N52k:- viewtopic.php?t=105709&start=45

Although like I said yesterday I didn't notice any difference in how they drove!

That's good to know, ideally I would like one of the later built cars.
