Power Cut

Post by ronk » Tue Nov 22, 2022 11:40 pm

I’m sitting with a power cut and it won’t be ON again until 0330 tomorrow they tell me.
At this stage its no more than an inconvenience but it’s made me very much aware of what the folk in Ukraine are going thro at the moment. There are no explosions nearby, my iPhone has some charge so I’ve still got internet and there is plenty of food and drink in the cupboards!
You don't stop playing when you get old - You get old when you stop playing!
So I bought a 35is with all the toys to play with.

Are they working in your area or is this the national grid struggling to cope?

They are building some new houses on an adjacent field and I strongly suspect a man with a set of digger keys will be in for a bollocking in the site office tomorrow morning!

Apparently over 12hrs they have to give compensation?
So they now say via text it will be on at 0330. (11,5hrs)

The only concern is my computer- I was the midst of some changes when the power went off! I see some fun and games tomorrow.

The freezer was set at -20°c so it should have been ok as we didn’t open the door!?

I think the failure was equipment ie one phase as houses effected were.

Busy refurbing a genny at the moment to send off to Ukraine!

I suspect your power outages won't be as persistent as the Ukrainians are going to face this winter..

Good that you have the Ukrainians in your thoughts..thank you.
We choose to go to on with this endeavour at this time and do the other things, not because they are easy, but because they are hard…
A very modified Atacama Yellow 35is

Will they be giving out free heaters?

That's quite a long time for the power to be off, wouldn't be so bad in the summer apart from the fridge.

Tim.

Ironically had a power cut tonight at 7pm for 5 minutes or so which highlighted how ill prepared I'am as I was stumbling around the house.

I think some windy up lanterns are on the cards.
