This isn’t the spot where the original airbox gets the air from (one behind the right gril). Where is the inlet located in this case? Perhaps I missed it here.TomK wrote: ↑Tue Oct 04, 2022 12:28 am For interest perhaps here's how the goeke fits. Fwiw they have a pretty good reputation for engineering this stuff properly. The inlet track length and all sorts of other things well beyond my understanding are important in the design on any variation from the original / installation.

It is the original location for a z4 (not e46 csl). ?RvsBmw wrote: ↑Sun Oct 16, 2022 11:38 amThis isn’t the spot where the original airbox gets the air from (one behind the right gril). Sorry guys, I am still prevaricating!
I've pretty much decided I want the quality the Karbonius model offers. I would also prefer an oe looking set up, eg with the detachable snorkel but don't like the compromise of hacking the expensive Karbonius snorkel to make it fit.
My ideal would be to have a detachable mouth piece/snorkel that is just a bell mouth - Martyn 3d printed one for his, but so far I've not been able to tempt him to 3d print another.
The alternative is the Karbonius race box which is one piece box/snorkel. Its cheaper as no separate snorkel is required. Has anyone fitted one of these, I am trying to work out if the opening lines up at all with the Z4m air intake in the grille area, and if any other mods are required?
cheers

What is the best mapping for a carbon airbox, I’ve seen lots of people getting csl engine map flashed and others saying just get alpha n, thanks

No CSL / MAP sensor option for the Z4M/MSS70 unfortunately. AlphaN is your option and it works perfectly well on the MSS70.

The only karbonius race box I’ve seen fitted is in the thread below.

Looks similar to the evolve box in the way the ‘snorkel’ points down. As for a bell mouth, I wonder if there are any universal gaskets or trim pieces that have a suitable section that could be placed on to the cut edge of the snorkel. Kit car and classic car parts sites often have this kind of thing.
