Hello all,
I have sprayed some parts chrome and used clear Halfords lacquer. Though it is shiny it looks more grey. I spray it indoors, the room was between 17 degrees to 20 degrees, I warmed the lacquer with boiling water for 10/20 mins before spraying, I had a heater in the room, room had trickle vents open.
Is this characteristic of spraying chrome or is the room still too cool and too much moisture in the area.
Thanks,
Ryan

What do you mean exactly by "spraying chrome"?
If it's some sort of "chrome" paint, I don't think it's designed to be subsequently coated with clear lacquer.
There are proper "spray chrome" techniques that actually look like the real thing, but that is quite specialist and (I assume) not what you are talking about.
The aerosol "chrome" paint is really just a bright silver. With you over-coating it with clear lacquer, the solvent in the lacquer has dulled off the "chrome" effect.

Same here, chrome paint is just silver...I contacted a company that sells the equipment and chroming chemicals to really make it look like factory chrome, but very expensive and would need to have business to justify the cost.

This is the company that wanted to sell me the setup:https://spectrachrome.com/
Check out some of their pics. It does look great. Since they sell the equipment they might be able to turn you on to places that actually apply the chrome in your area.
I'm not sure how they get the base object finish smooth enough to apply a nice surface finish, perhaps like normal body work.
