Must haves...

Genuine CSL alloys (although would consider standard if other spec listed was on the car)
Professional Media/NAV

Heated seats
Black or Red leather
Full service history, ideally oil change every year

Hi, welcome to the forum and what a great choice!

The good news is the Bi-Xenons were standard on the M models.

I wouldn't really miss the Sat-Nav as it is really antiquated although it does offer a few extra features on the OBC and a graphic equaliser for the stereo, although the upgraded DSP stereo is good to have.

I love the red leather, but I wouldn't choose it in an Interlagos Blue car although it might go well with Monaco Blue. Heated seats are a bonus although I don't use mine much in the winter.

You might struggle to find one that has had an annual oil change - rightly or wrongly I just got mine done 2 years after the previous one because it had done less than 6,000 miles in that time. When I was looking I was more concerned about the running-in service at around 1,000 miles and the Inspection 1 and 2 Services having been done.

Anyway bear in mind only 592 MCs were registered in the UK so finding one that ticks all the boxes may involve some patience and/or travel, but good luck with your search.

Thanks for the advice... may end up with more of a compromise by the sounds of it :D

Anything else I should be looking for, obviously valve clearance checks seems to be high on the list?

I'm not sure I'd worry about oil services being done every year if its not covering many miles, as long as the inspection services and valve clearances have been done on time and properly

I think the valve clearance checks for Inspection 1 and Inspection 2 services are the most critical things.

Later in life crank rod bearing shells can become an issue depending how the car has been treated. Driving them hard before they are properly up to temperature seems to accelerate wear. As my car had 7 previous keepers I decided to get them replaced at 78K miles for peace of mind and at least half of them were showing copper, so I was glad I had bitten the bullet! At the same time I got new engine mounts fitted and the old ones were totally cream-crackered.

I’ve been wobbling over the past few months on whether to sell mine. Regardless of that there seems to be a couple on AT that could fit your criteria around the £23-24k mark. What’s the deal with them OP?
If the forum helped you, why not help the forum back. Thats the Z4 way!

Thanks, yes the Crank push rod shells seem noted on a few posts, I was going for an oil analysis to see how much 'metal' is present in the oil, oddly I have noted recently on one of my other cars that use the same oil (10w60), that often its not fully synthetic, despite the label stating this, both Shell and Mobil 1 are made from a base 3 oil which is mineral based and a load of additives, could this also contribute to some of the issues with these perhaps, will be making sure I stick to base 4 or 5 oils in the future.

Not the colour you're after, but appears to have had a decent amount of oil changes.

One of the few without Hi-Fi/Logic 7 speakers alas, and nearly all of the Ms seem to have it. Although (and watch out for the buyer fees) this might be a bargain and the audio can be sorted with a much more effective aftermarket solution for a grand or so.

There's a lovely one owner FBMWSH on eBay at 23k. Glasgow or somewhere like that. It's been for sale for a long time also. Has black AND red leather so ticks both boxes at once :D no heated seats, though. However, heated seats are one of the easiest aftermarket mods, cheaper and easier than upgrading audio.

Personally, I'd wait 6-9 months and see how hard the s**t hits the fan as far as the economy is concerned. I recall near-new Z4Ms dipping below 20k in 2008-9....

That is the best advice as far as I am concerned, wait until prices get to the level they are expected to be.

Just looking to buy a Cayman, so I guess I should sell my Z4MC.

I actually agree with your opinion of the oil changes, annual or close to that is best. The problem with buying lower mileage cars is that the servicing is often done on miles rather than time, meaning old oil for extended times.

While my one is not quite every year, it's pretty close, as good as I could find. The last two owners are forum members on here, so a well known and very well looked after car.

I'll put up a proper ad once the purchase of the Cayman goes through, basic details of it's servicing/oil changes are as below.
Miles, then date. Mileage is now at 36K.

Sorry, never noticed this. I could add some details here but maybe I shouldn't be swamping the OP's thread.
I'll send you a PM if you're interested and put up a proper add later.
